Nice one Stardock!!! (and) 2 quick questions!

Well how about that!!! They weren't lying to us, it is a good game!!!

2 things, and I wonder if anyone agrees with me:

1. Is there an option to look from below the ship as well as from above on the tactical map? IT would give a great feeling of depth and size. If not, is it easy to put in? I am aware this can be done on the ship design screen!

2. When moving the pointer to the edges of the screen there seems to be a dead zone near the corners. I only seem to be able to either scroll up or down but not diagonally. Is this the case? And if so can it be altered?

Thanks

Well done and good luck from the UK.

1) No, there's not an option.

2) Yes, we took out scrolling at the corners because then it would scroll whenever you tried to click on the Turn button or the Menu button.

BTW, if someone can think of a good UI way of doing option 1 we'd like that too.

In teh ship battles there is a free form camera so you can look at your ships very up close and such.

We played with #1 in the betas, but since you could have situations where you are looking directly at the horizion-line, it'd SERIOUSLY kill framerate in late game, so we took it out. It'd take a bit of coding to do it correctly (aka without the fps killing)

Fog of war at the offending angles?

Thanks for answering my question.
In answer to Brad's question for #1, why not do the same as you are doing in for the "snap to back of ship" and make it an option on the interface screen.

Well you would have to make it so that objects were only represented by icons beyond a certain distance from the camera. It might require a bit of extra coding if the switch to icons is currently controlled by zoom level instead of distance to the camera. It would certainly be nice to be able to view from beneath.
