colony ship, troop transport... you name it...

Does Colony ship here still have unlimited transporting capabilities like in galciv1?

I believed it has been changed. Now you can "only" put 500m people on it (and 1000 in troop transports).
But you can always build bigger ones with the proper miniaturisation techs and by putting more than 1 colony/transport module in the ship

Depends on how many "people modules" you put on your ships. While it may take many with the default, you can build more capacity ships later on due to larger hulls, advances in miniturization, etc. With 4 regular troop modules you can double that (2000m ). 5 of those would move 1 billion.
