Poll about game mechanics

After reading and participating in numerous threads about tactical combat, I really have to wonder what most people want. Please don't discuss anything here, just simply state your oppinion. Should GCII continue to be CIV in space? Or, should it be modified to become similar to RTW where you have the option to personally control every battle. Again, no discussion because I doubt it really has any effect on what the game will become. And just post once.

My vote is to keep it the way it is, NO TACTICAL!!

Actually, I would like to see Stardock do a tactical game. Just not embed one into GalCiv.

No tactical. More strategic combat options. Strategy interpreted into a tactical replay for visual enjoyment. would like to see a good tactical game from stardock though. Political machine 3d with tactical combat? (j/k)

Yes to ranged tactical combat similar to Fallout combat system with ability to control ships singly or grouped together. Include a quick resolve option for those wishing to forgo tactical combat.

Maybe add a 3rd Dimension for moving units "up" and "down" though.

The big problem with tactical is that with it you feel you have to take over every single battle.

But at some point there's an insane amount of fights you have to do, and a good part of them will be very easy for you. But the computer doesen't know that.

Exemple : If I control my forces in Rome Total War, I am usually assured victory if the opposing army is smaller then me. But the game doesen't know that. If I hit an army that's half my size and I use "generate results", I have good chances of losing the battle, or losing half my troops when I woudn't have if I had fought myself.

So that means I have to fight every battle, except maybe those I outnumber 10 to 1. Throw in some load times between every battle and it becomes tedious fast.

What would be fun would be if the game calculated YOUR odds of winning the battle rather then the odds of the computer AI handed the same ships. Maybe it could store some statistics from earlier battles and try to replicate them to a degree when you hit auto-battle, so you can just concentrate on the hard fights.

One more negative vote here: NO tactical

However i would like to give orders to my ships to perform specific tasks:
spread fire, hide in the the nebula, focus fire on ship x, suround the enemy, hold fire, fire at will etc.
Wouldn't that be something nice?
