Getting Very Frustrated!!!

Been, phoning and Emailing for DAYS, TRYING to find out about "Collector's Edition" preorder availability within Canada! The way I see it, EB Games is EB Games and the preorder "bonus" should be available to those who preorder...PERIOD!

I REALLY want to preorder Galactic Civilizations 2, but nobody seems able to answer this simple question.

Within Canada, GalCiv 2 is (approx. conversion based on $1.40 Canadian to 1 U.S.D) $28.50 U.S.D at Future Shop, and $33.00 U.S.D at EB Games Canada. For me to order through Stardock, (which would be my preference) the game would cost me $44.95 U.S.D and $5.00 U.S.D for shipping for a total of $50.00 U.S.D. versus spending $28.50 U.S.D on a version that is supposed to be the SAME price. Ordering through EB Games website tacks on a $15.00 U.S.D shipping charge to Canada...so that's a no go!

All I want is the "Collector Edition" of the game to receive the extra stuff you can't get elsewhere---apparently not even the "Bonus" DL.

Please help me Brad i wan, you're my only hope.

I wanted all the extras that come with owning a copy of the Collector's Edition. I ordered from Stardock.

Well, the Collector's Edition should cost more than the regular version anyways right? I wouldn't feel bad banking a little bit more for it.

Stardock is being nice and giving it to "us" for the same price as the regular game because of our help in developing the game with them.

AFAIK the Collector's edition is simply being used to fulfull preorders, and then in lieu of normal versions until supplies are exhausted (I know Brad has said that WalMart plans to stock the CE exclusively, at least as long as supplies last).

There should be no difference between Canada and US availability, and Brad has said that EB/Gamestop are definitely (to Stardock's knowledge) going to be filling preorders with the CE version.

Citizen LOL, Buckfutted... ya gotta love that name....

While I would be willing to pay a premium for the CE, DOUBLE U.S.D. is simply out of the question! Brad has also stated that the two are no different in price....which I appreciate immensely

Darth Kyro, I sure hope you are correct in that those companies are stocking CE across the board...

A Dev response would be great in light that we only have 11.5 days left to preorder from somebody...

Oh, and FYI the exchange rate right now is about 1.15CA : 1.00US, not 1.40CA : 1.00US. Not sure how FutureShop gets off selling for ~$35USD even at that, and I don't know where you got the Eb price since ebgames.ca (which is down right now) just redirects to ebgames.com, where all prices are USD already...

Collector's edition costs teh same as the regular one. It's just a matter of rewarding those who pre-order.

I wish I had a good answer on who has the collector's edition.  It shouldn't be that hard for them to say since they have different SKUs.

In fact, that's it!

The Collector's Edition SKU is: 708192010332  by contrast, the standard edition is 708192010325

(these numbers refer to the bar code on the bottom of the box).

Hope this helps.

BTW, Gamestop is explicitly supporting the collector's edition:

Future Shop is actually selling the game for $39.99 Canadian dollars....35.26 U.S. Dollars to Canadian Dollars will yield 39.99 Canadian Dollars.
(Derived rate = 1.1343) I didn't realize that our dollar was this high right now

I don't know how they're making money?

And as far as the pricing from EB Games Canada....$44.95 Canadian dollars, that's directly the local stores selling price, not the web price(still 39 bucks with your corrected conversion rates) ... I didn't know EB Games had a Canadian website? So my initial figure was off due to conversion rates, but there is still that $15.00 U.S. shipping charge to Canada....how does a .5 pound game justify $15 bucks? I dunno...

Thanks for the official SKU's Brad! I'll call my EB store tommorow, and Wal Mart as well to confirm one way or the other. I don't know if Canada has a Game Stop, but if I find one I'll get the info. from them as well.

And just checked, Future Shop is definitely the regular one according to SKU #

Thanks again,

You could just pre-order direct from Stardock and be done with it if you can't get it local that way.
