Planet Invasion Techs

Hi, just another one of those people that cant wait for GCII to come out. I was just thinknig about those neat techs you got in other Space Strategy games for invading/bombarding planets and have come up with three questions for now.

1) I think it was most memorably Imperium Galactica II, and a few others where you could invent all kinds of bombs and crazy techs for bombarding planets, and they would always start at something like Nuclear fission bomb, then fusion, then so on with some bio weapons thrown in with negative effects on your rep if you used them. Are bombs implemented in GC2 or do you just bombard with standard weapons?

2) Are there any non-conventiional weapon techs such as chemical, biological or other futuristic terror weapons and if so do these affect race reputation if used?

2) In some space strat games, I fondly remember having tanks and super duper power armor in my invasion forces and it made me all warm and fuzzy on the inside thinking of walking around in power armor, will tanks, power armor and such be available as improving techs for your ground forces?

thanks for any info,
Shane

What's NDA preciousss ?

I know in GalCiv1 you could select different types of planetary bombardment ( or more accurately, planetary destruction )
before launching the gound troops so that enemy resistance will be severely weakened.
These weapons will destroy the planet's quality and / or built social projects though.

I assume GalCiv2 will feature these options as well, though perhaps you'll have to research them first ??
There are no seperate units like bombers or nukes or tanks though, just the option to crash meteors or cause tidal waves along with landing your troop transports.

1) Yes there are various nasty things that you can do in conjunction with invasion. They do not affect you rep but the sure screw up the quality of the planet you are invading.

2) I think not. You research Planitary invasion, Bombardment, Marines, Shock Troops, etc but you don't build them they become automatically part of your invasion force.

3) All the stuff is there in the invasion force but you have no tactical control. You invade and either succeed or fail based on various factors such as planet population and improvements.

Well, don't forget that you DO have strategic control. Before you invade, you decide what nastiness you are going to use. Basicially you are given a list of choices such as:

Choices become available as the tech becomes available.

1) No added effects (No bonuses but no loss in quality/improvements)
2) Some mildly destructive technique (Some bonuses and some loss to the planet quality/improvements)
ect
ect
5) Some horribly destructive technique (Huge bonuses, total destruction of improvements, BIG hit to planet quality)

It is a gamble. You have to decide how sure you are about taking the planet, and how much you are willing to damage a planet you will soon (hopefully) control.

Nondisclosure Agreement.

Here we will let you test the Gamma but if you say squat about it in the forums we have the right to:

a) Poke you twice in one eye.
b) Flick your nose.
c) Flick your friends nose.
d) Spank the bottom of yer feet.

(Or more seriously you could end up in civil court getting your proverbial tail handed to you for exposing trade or industrial secrets).
