Vasari Orkulus Starbase Phase Stabilization

Stabilize Phase Space ability

Greetings !

I have played Rebellion for more than 700 hours now ! :D   I have all the current Rebellion DLCs installed.

Recently I was playing the game as Vasari Rebel with the Advent Loyalists as my ally (in a locked team). After a long while, I began constructing Orkulus starbases at my ally's planets to ease up my fleets jumping to them.

1) Right-clicking on the "Stabilize Phase Space" button of an Orkulus Starbase doesn't show any visual sign that it now is in Auto mode (although I can hear the usual mouse click sound) ;

2) I don't know what are the condition(s) that would trigger the starbase to use its phase space stabilization ability ; it is not indicated in the (now outdated) manual ;

3) If the auto mode works, it might be more practical to be auto-enabled when it finishes to be built ;

4) Between two Advent planets with each an Orkulus starbase with the space stabilization ability, one has to activate it on both starbases to be able to travel directly from one planet to the other : is that whas was intended ? If so, would it work if both starbases had this ability in auto-mode ? (Would it trigger automatically when the fleet is ordered to travel ?)

I would appreciate fixes or usage advices about the above remarks !

Thanks in advance to all responders !

Are you taking about the ability that creates a phase stabalizer node or the research that lets starbase jump to planets with a stabalizer node? The former creates a temporary node when it is used, so yes you need to activate it manually. The research lets you jump starbases between planets with phase nodes, even if it is not the starbase's phase node. In fact most of the time it is preferable to use standard phase stabalizer structures, since they are always active.

Little FYI...if you activate any ability that creates a phase node, all that matters is that you give the move order before the ability ends...there might be some exceptions (like a ship being disabled by an ability), but in general once a ship is given a move order it will use the phase node even if the phase node terminates before the ship actually makes the jump...this is provided of course you don't change the move orders of the ship...

Tis guy is just to lazy to micro two Orky's at the same time... And I can't even believe I just used the word "micro".

I'm not sure about the Starbase but I know if the Antorak Marauder has its Stabilize Phase Space ability on autocast it will use it whenever the phase stabilization expires (i.e. the Marauder will ensure there is always a phase stabilizer around itself). I'm not sure if the starbase version supports autocast or not but if it did I would expect it to work in a similar manner.

The duration is shorter than the cooldown, so you probably don't want to autocast the Orky ability...

Hi and thanks for your input !

I am sorry that I was not clear enough ! I am talking about the ability of the Orkulus starbase that allows it to function as a phase stabilizer node (not the research "that lets starbase jump to planets..."). The context of my queries is about having fleets (not starbases) jump directly to allied planets (not to my own planets).  I believe one cannot build standard phase stabilizers around allied planets.

Whatever the context, I believe that after right-clicking on the "Stabilize Phase Space" button of an Orkulus Starbase it should show a visual sign that it now is in Auto mode (like it does with all other buttons that can go into auto mode).  I doesn't and I believe it is a bug.  What do you think about that ?

Thank you again for your help !

Ah, I see. Actually the Vasari Loyalists can build phase stabalizers in allied gravity wells with their titan (assuming your ally doesn't mind the lost tactical slots). Not all abilities can be autocast but from the sound of it other people have gotten it to work. Or perhaps they just assume it works because the Antorak's has an auto cast?

When one hovers the cursor over the "Stabilize Phase Space" button of an Orkulus starbase a pop-up displays useful information among wihich the following text : "Creates a Phase Stabilizer node, allowing your empire's ships to travel directly between this node and another Phase Stabilizer node within the same star system.  Left click to Use Ability.  Right click to Toggle auto-use ability."  For me, that means it should support autocast.

I find it quite interesting what you wrote about the Marauder : maybe I should use it more often as you suggest.  It also reminds me of the Vasari Loyalist titan which can create a phase stabilizer node around the planet where it is (although it would often be around an enemy planet instead of an allied planet).

Thanks again !
