I have to say, I played E:WoM for about two hours and was pretty disappointed (especially after coming off of GalCiv).
That being said, I love this game.
Me too. I woke up early today and had time to play 1 hour before i had to go to work. It was hard to stop...
Same here.
No doubt FE is not perfect and there are things that I dont like,
Compare to WOM, it is still so much better 
I am sure it will be getting better and my respect to Star dock's effort done to their customers.
There are interesting optional MOD follow up as well aside the vanila FE, you can try them.
Just finished a game I started in 1.01 (now gonna actually get around to patching to latest version) and the game's getting really good now. The AI, on Normal difficulty, actually put up a fairly solid fight against my cheesy, though not always competent, strategies, captured a couple of my cities, used special units effectively, and AI-controlled Verga even managed to conquer Torax's wildland, something I was scared of much of the game.
Very satisfying to play against an AI opponent that's reasonably challenging even when not playing to the best of its abilities!
I've been meaning to write my own "Love the game, thanks a bunch!" thread for a while now, but haven't quite found the time from playing.
So I'll add my comments here. WoM for me was
