What is this "Armstice" BS?

Here is what happens: the TEC AI build a fleet with 2-3 Akklans, somehow upgrades all his ships to Level 7 and then brings it to my choke point gravity well. As soon as they get in, Akklans activate "Armstice" one by one and the whole fleet just keeps flying around the gravity well like a bunch of idiots unable to deal or take damage. This nonsense continues for 10-25 minutes until they decide that they had enough and leave the gravity well.

It would be lovely if the AI stopped doing that. Just saying......

Make sure you dont allow the Akkans to auto upgrade their abilities.  The armistice is one of those and yes it doesnt help most of the time.  Also, make sure you unselect the auto cast ability then it will never be used. As an Akkan levels up there is a point when you have to select armistice because by then everything else is max.

My problem with Armistice isnt the premise.  If you are losing a fight and want to run away this ability is aweome because it forces the enemy to back off and you can phase jump away with out further damage.

My problem is that it it only works on the ships in the ability radius, meaning that those ships cant attack each other but can attack anything else in the gravity well.  for example if the enemy uses it on your mobile defenders you cant hit them while then can turn inward and bombard your planet or your static defenses unchallenged until it wears off.

Hope this helps

The problem is that the AI does this and causes all sorts of issues.

Ah, yeah then.  I am not sure why it builds Akkans in any number to tell you the truth.  Except for the target ability they have limited use and are less capable then say a Sova.  Either the AI is being incredibly smart or just too stupid :)

It's a "bug" with the AI, since they also build an ungodly amount of supers now, forget about Frigates, etc.

You can move out of the amistice radius as well, if the Akkan stays where it is. If it moves along with you you can at least stop the planetary bombardment.

Yes the AI behaviour sucks, part of the porblem is th fact that the AI only builds one large Capship fleet, at least at lower AI levels.

Insane or Cruel or whatever the two highest are pretty much do the same thing.

They just need to make it so that it autocasts only when the fleet is retreating. Though I'm not sure if this is easy to do or not.

If it's tied to assigning a movement order that ends in another gravitywell maybe?

Gotta learn to counter it.  Dunovs counter mass armistice.  Also build a starbase or mines if they keep doing armistice.

I guess you can counter, but it's still not a great tactic for the AI to be using in the first place. Probably the AI should be using it only when it retreats.

Advent does not have Dunovs.

What would building a base accomplish? The ships are invulnerable to attack and the base is also affected by Armstice if in range. Even if I can throw asteroids at them, they are still invulnerable. Mines really don't do much to a fleet of Level 7 cap ships with 2-4 Dunovs to replenish their shields.

but they do have both reverie and detonate antimatter.

and donov's sheild restore SUCK at countering AOE damage, and donovs are significatly less effective at countering single target damage than the vasari Overseer.

It's spammed. The MOMENT armistice is done the other ships use theirs. There's no downtimes to use those abilities in.

I do this from time to time in multiplayer for the lulz

If its going off via autocast, you have 2 choices, build enough ships to slow down the AI script so that you can do things before the AI thinks about it.

Second, make sure you have less ships in the gravity well in fleet supply than he does. The autocast only casts if the AI thinks it is losing, eg, it has a smaller fleet. make sure it has a larger fleet, and it will never cast.

I usually concentrate fire on the TEC colony capitals and when the armistice is activated, make all the ships follow the colony until it wears off then concentrate fire again. When all the colony capitals are taken out, then the real battle begins. In short, I don't really let it bother me. *_*
