Good to hear this mod is still rollin' (no thanx to my black sheep @ss).

In the fine summer months of nothing-the-#$*&-coming out worth playing, I'm feelin' like I can help out some more.  If anybody on the mod has some work for a code monkey, shoot it my way and I'll take a look.  Haven't had much of a real challenge since I resurrected the mod from the overwrite-grave 6 months ago after someone (who shall remain anonymous) tried to overwrite it with a bum version all over the shared directory... or I was just lucky to have a solid backup from a few hours earlier.

Either way, I have to apologize for offering some services and disappearing.  I'd like to quote Major and say "RL trumps," but it's more like I'm just lazy.  Josh, Geoff, you have my address if you need it.

We are still working on the cardassian "mutiny" ability. Where during combat there is a small chance that a cardassian ship will turn on their masters, and auto retreat to whoever faction it joins. As the mod lore says cardassians will look for any opportunity to escape from the dominion. The Keldon is the exception. It is crewed with the most loyal to the dominion. The ability should be similar to the borg assimilation, but the ship casts it on itself. The chance to rebel should be very small. Otherwise we will have the same problem as we had the the pre-nerf borg assimilation.

If I were smarter, it wouldn't have been such an unholy bitch to manage, but it's a nice, nasty little surprise now.  Unfortunately, "chance" isn't something that can be done with anything that couldn't just be turned off by the player, so having it reside on the Cardassian ships directly wasn't an option.  I pulled off an entirely impossible to exploit method of pissing off Dominion players once I thought my way around in circles long enough...

 

Being smart enough to think my way around the limitations in the ability system is a frequent issue...

The thing is no one really knows what effect it will have until it is tried. Thats what modding is all about.. trial and error.

Hey, the answer thing is back!!!  I haven't been able to reply for days.

OK, whoever asked about adding the Distant Stars worlds, I've been working on my own version of that, and so far it's only kinda working.  Distant Stars is a very involved mod, with not just new worlds, but also lots of new planetary bonuses and abilities.  So far I've been able to add the solar system planets and have it playable, but I'm still having mini-dumps trying to exit the game, and I haven't been able to pin down the glitch yet.

When the next version of this SoA2 is released I'll try it again with a clean copy... but no promises. If I can get a version to work I'll contact the Mod team first thing.  But like I said, DS and SoA2 are both big, very involved MODs. Getting a working combination of both might not be as easy as it first appears.

thats awesome though, i don't know much about modding but if all you do is add in the planet models for even just the basic 8 (or 9) main planets for the solar system that would be awesome, like forget about all the bonuses, but I don't know if thats possible.  Still looks great guys and sounds like its only going to get better.

I finally got Entrenchment over the weekend and downloaded the latest version of the mod. Played a bit as the Federation, and am trying out the Borg now. 

Anyways I'm loving the new ships and the way they move, and I can see why you guys are going to decrease the size of the ships - they are kind of big for the grav well.

Anyways, the Klingons attacked a fully upgraded unicomplex of mine with a massive fleet. I was worried, so I gathered a fleet of 3 Tactical Cubes and some Spheres to back it up which were 3 jumps away. Turns out I didn't need them at all - the Klingons were annihilated. I was shocked.  

One thing I noticed as the Borg is that the 'Intimidation' ability is sort of quiet compared to the phasers and stuff. It just feels underwhelming to me to have "We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships" to be drowned out by phaser blasts. Perhaps it could be made louder compared to other sound effects?

Finally, which is better - the Assimilator Cube or the tactical Cube? To me, for the amount of resources needed the Tactical Cube seems to give a better bang for its buck, though I could very easily be wrong.

The assimilator cube I think is tougher, but the Tactical cube can siege planets.  I pair them up when moving them around, because I like having a tac cube around if my planet assimilator's get too far behind.

Anyone else having trouble seeing the last 4 replies on the previous page (not to mention the fact that there's not a reply box either)?  Did the bottom of the page get chopped off from too much space taken up by replies?

Open the archive. You will see a GameInfo folder. Open your mod and you will see a GameInfo folder. Open both of these and drag the couple files into the mods GameInfo folder, choose yes to overwrite.

how come when i open the dl page i get a strange file that is tiny and not your mod? it does the same thing with Stargate races mod, but no on other sites

I just tried the DL link for ENT and the aDrive works great, fast too. What link are you trying with what browser?

The file is in .RAR format. You need to install winRAR or the like in order to handle the download. You can use the trial version of winRAR for free.

i knew it since the normal guys can use the internet (and afford it) one of the first things i learned was how to use zips and rars

but back than the files were compressed so that everything go on our disk oder zipdisk

he is the 3 third person(who use an pc/mac) ive ever met who doesn't know rars
