it seems the dominion has a terrible early game, is there anything you can do if you start next to an unfair klingon ai
See if you still say that after the next patch

looking forward to it, dominion is still my favorite faction
on another note, don't know if its been brought up already but the borg got a relationship of 4+ with me and offered me a trade alliance
WTF? Who are you playing as?
We are finding lots of odd stuff they did to Rebellion under the hood.

i was playing dominion on the soa2 huge multi random map, also most of the other factions were really eager to build relations and peace with each other and myself. in the end it got kind of boring with everyone teaming on a couple of stubborn players
as an aside, just saw two defiants named uss monitor and merrimack jump together to attack a planet...coincidences
Military actions can give a maximum of +8. If you are not fighting the Borg, but you are fighting with the ones the Borg is fighting, it's quite possible to achieve the 2.5 needed for a trade agreement by combat. It's extremely difficult, but not impossible.

Awesome. Can't wait.
Rebellion 1.51 has been released. Looks like mostly bug fixes and gameplay pretty much unaffected.
I was able to load my saved game from 1.5. No issues so far.
Good to know.
When you are fighting the Borg the "pause" key is your best friend. Use it. A lot. You are not as fast as the AI.
backs out of the room slowly...
Must be Andorian

I don' t think so. Your best friend could be save the game and restart when you loose against them.
Even after I put their super longrangeweapon to normal dmg they are OP still. They are the only race with
isPsi TRUE. Maybe it is caouse of this. I couldn't find out.
Tried the mod and I like it. However the Borg are very OP (With the federation seemingly the only faction able to deal with them, also possibly on purpose) And the Breen are pushovers. I fought a battle as Breen against a fleet half my size and all my ships died in the first 30 seconds.
Also the fleet point cost for their first elite ship is insane (Mainly because it's abilities are mostly useless). I would seriously consider toning it down a bit.
Other than that it's a great mod. After trying it I think I will move it over to Trinity. Seems a bit worthless in Rebellion ATM (Mainly because it doesn't take advantage of the Titans or Corvettes)

I am not affiliated with the mod team. Just my $.02.
The team has said a number of times they are trying to keep this as canon to TNG as possible. The Borg are nearly unstoppable because....the Borg are nearly unstoppable. For an average player like me the teams will need to be adjusted in Borg involved games vs. non-Borg games to make it more winnable, but some players are much better than I. The team has stated there will be no titans in this mod. It's a Star Trek game not a SOSE game. Also the shared technology gives the non-Borg races some very powerful upgrades if you can survive long enough. But once the Borg get into the later stages of the game they are extremely difficult to beat.
The Dominion is probably the weakest of the races but there are some tricks to playing them. Also psy and fist are always adjusting the balancing. Fist has said there will be some modifications to the Dominion in the next Rebellion release.
Someone is following the thread well
Also there are these buttons, we are slowly adding info and are quite useful for n00bs.
This is for AI only, a player that knows how to use DOM should do well, but the AI is a dumbass that needs help.
If you fought a Borg fleet half your size with frigates, it was going to curb stomp you regardless. You need to aim more in the range of 5-1 to match them with frigates. To really take a bite out of the Borg as the Dominion, you need a decently leveld Devastator or Enslaver, preferably both, and a swarm of Jem'Hadar large enough to significantly outnumber the Borg. Then you can send in a swarm of 400+ dps frigates and watch them mow through the enemy fleet. It's all about reaching critical mass. Defend well, level up some nice ships, and watch the swarm stop sucking.
Just like Deep Space Nine, heh.
I really wish that TNG could have taken a stance against the Borg that is similar to the Dominion War seen in DS9, I understand why that didn't happen (Roddenberry didn't even believe the Borg should be IN TNG, Because it didn't line up with his perception of Star Trek, he wanted exploring not war)
But still, it would have been cool to see various trek races taking a stance against a common enemy (The Borg). The only war stuff was the Best of Both Worlds 2-parter....I am Locutus of Borg..
BUT, In my 2 Cents I love the Game, though I play Federation Primarily (What can I say, I'm Pro-Human...that's...that's not Biased, right?)

Are you talking to me? If you are I'm not insane, I would never fight the Borg with only a 2:1 ratio. I was fighting against the Klingons. It was pretty much all light frigates with a few cruisers scattered here and there.
About the Titans I was expecting that answer, that's kinda why I'm going to download the mod for Trinity instead of rebellion.
When fighting the Borg, as an Andorian
, you must be aggressive. If you turtle they will steamroll you. So scouting is important and get that "Lingering Persistence" upgrade so that when your scouts are destroyed you can keep an eye on our Borg buddies.
If you are lucky enough to spawn next to the Borg get 6 Intrepid as soon as possible. Use them as a kill team. Queens can be nasty. Remember time is your enemy with the Borg. Once they get leveled up to 6 and above it gets really dicey.
My fleets mid-game: Intrepid (for pest control), Akira, Excelsior, Sabre, Miranda, Steamrunner, Norway, Constellation and Shelly. No caps, Except maybe one Ambassador and that's only when I feel I am way ahead. Learn each ships special abilities and the synergies. It's the only way you stand a chance.
Don't play multi-star maps until you know what you are doing on single star maps. Why bang your head against the wall?
My son says I have an APM of four. And two of those are heartbeats.
So yeah I'm slow, which is why...
backs out of the room "slowly"...
PS And of course: thank you guys for making the best mod ever for the greatest game ever.
There isn't much difference between Diplomacy, and Rebellion. Basically the only reason we are doing Rebellion is for the graphic updates. There are "under the hood" reasons too. What the average player will see is nothing, but shiny graphics. What we see are tons of optimizations, and fix's, and a lot of modding options opened up for us. However everything we are doing for Rebellion could also be done for Trinity at this point in time.
Ill ask a question. Do you guys want a Star Trek mod? or yet another reskinned version of Sins? There are reasons why we don't want titans in here. The main one being that Titans are NOT Star Trek. Nor do we want a war of "uberships". If you want Ubership wars. Play Star Wars, or Battlefleet Gothic.
We made the Borg as powerful as they were in TNG Best of Both Worlds. Voyager really turned the Borg into "retarded Jack in the Box's". We "Fixed" that problem, and made the Borg "As they should be". That doesn't mean the Borg are "invulnerable". In Trek there are always possibilities. In our Borgs case it is possible to beat them. You just have to Think, Strategise, Possibly make some Allies, and find a way to do it. TBH if we made the Borg "balanced" vs a single faction then the fun would be totally taken out of them, and they would become the Retarded Jack in the Box's we saw in Voyager again.
You "should" be pro human... If the Borg have their way there wont be any Humans left.. Only Borg.
BTW we do plan on using the corvette slot.
Ever!!!
I have been getting some lag lately to the point where it was noticeable. Not sure when it started. Upon turning off shadow detail the performance was drastically improved.
Then shadows would be the culprit. When you consider how many units Sins will end up having to draw and render shadow maps for in late-game fleets, it becomes fairly obvious that shadows, as highly-intensive GPU features, can and will lag your game.
0.61R will be out some time tomorrow.
