Having been playing the 1.51 version no crashing issues yet for me.

 

As usual the development team's attention to details is impressive. I apologize if this has been asked before, but just out of curiosity, why do the Romulans D'Veridex have the two disruptor weapons but in the tech tree it's pulse gun for one of them?

Thanks very much for the mod!  I first got this mod shortly before v1.5 updated, and haven't got around to play seriously yet, but the tech tree looks downright awesome.

I don't know if it is brought up before, but would you move the research screen info card to the right hand side of the screen in future releases?  The current location in the mid-left is a bit awkward.

The setting is in Window\InfoCard.window, "offsetFromTopCenterWhenFullScreenDialogOpen [-445, 634]".  Game default x-pos is 570.

Believe it or not, lots still play on 1024x768 or the same in Window mode and the info card covers way to much of the research tree. Go ahead and change your file though.

What is the preferred method for submitting bugs to the mod team?

 

I went to the Debug & Requests link above, http://code.google.com/p/sinssoa2sacrificeofangels/issues/list and it looks like it has not been in use in 2013.

Bug Report: Romulan Z-1 Warbird  (colony elite) cloaked image is a sideways D'Deridex Warbird :S

 

 

Please feel free to tell me to STFU if you don't want to hear about every little graphics problem I come across.

Also I'm happy to help in any way I can, which at this point is only text editing of entity files,  string files, etc. and/or fixing things myself as I learn more about modding Sins.

Thanks again myfist0 and to all the SoA2 team, the mod is a fantastic work of art and love. :')

Since the latest full release (haven't downloaded the patch yet), it seems the Borg AI no longer upgrades the unicomplex. I've had a game running for quite some time and in every system their starbases appear to be at the base level. Maybe this is on purpose, but I didn't see anything in this thread about it.

Never got this problem, it must be your computer.  Sometimes the graphics overload the GPU and cause a minidump.

If you forget, hit the external link in the OP and top right is the mail button. psy does check the debug forum but I would prefer email, we both check that regularly.

No worries if you want to post here.

We still need beta testers, preferably with skype text messaging but not required. Get updates as soon as they happen.

Ya, that was not even supposed to be release, work in progress. Rebellion does not play well with persistent effects (Trinity was way better) and since the effect does not last I was debating keeping it in.

The Devs are still mucking around with how the AI saves and spends money, the latest patch had another one. We need a lot more test games to actually see how they play over many games.

Do you pick what type of player? Defender, Aggressor, Researcher? we need more details on how hard they were set and at what type of player, map size and game duration.

Hi there, could I just ask by what factor you rescaled your ship models for rebellion. Was it 50% i.e. half size?

yes, 90% anyway. Some models were way out of whack, like the KLI SB was as tall as a planet, and some of the orbital structures were halved, then halved again. Some of the stock Sins structures were left as is, I went by windows for some sort of scale.

I've been encountering problem opening the new entity files for editing.  The files from the previous version will open fine in notepad or notepad++ but the new files have all of these 'null' values and the formatting is gone as well.

 

Are you guys using different programs to edit the files, or am I just doing something wrong?  o_O

 

edit:  the gameplay.constants file opens normally and had all of the formatting that it normally does, only the entity files have given me problems so far.  Also, when I open the entity files in wordpad they look slightly better but are still not in a condition that will let me edit them properly.

Put the files you want to convert into the ConvertEntity folder, double Click BintoTXT.bat

Hi, since a few days I have a little problem with the display of the planets and ship icons of AI. These are no longer displayed. If I scroll closer, I see the object, but at longer ranges, I see nothing more. In my own stations or ships, everything is ok, and I see everything normal. (Dip 1.37)

because someone has an idea or a tip?

Hi,

 

I want to present you the modification of SOA2.

First of all thanks to SOA2Team for this very nice work and star trek feelling.

Cause I wanted to play it in a different way I made this modificatiion. But most of hard work belongs still SOA2 Team.

This mod is compatibel with Rebellion 1.52. You can update also your planets with industry and social specialisation.

 

Changes to original SOA2:

First of all I wanted to fight also against other races and not only against borg. That is also why I tried to keep balance between races that all of them have a chance to expand their empire.

- AI increased for all races. Before AI didn't build any capital ships for Kiingons, Federation, Dominion and Romulan. They were researching only maxshipslots but not caputalships and were building frigates. Only borg could build their capital ships but not the other races. To see all races fight with capital ships I changed AI.

- I changed assimilation of borg. Borg were taking control of nearly all frigates and other NPC s couldn't expand any. Borg now only can assimilate when shields are down. Lower your shields and surrender :-). But without lowering shields they cannot assimilate. Only tractorbeamassimilation with eliteships can assimilate other ships even eliteships. But this was enough to give other races a chance to start normal.

- Borg combatlab had 12 civil slots. This was for borg impossible to expand. Cause of this you could see alot of money and resources sometimes > 100 000 but they couldn't use it. I changed that to 4 civil slots that they could build their culturecenters and combatlabs.

This makes Borg again hard cause they can get researches faster now.

Borg had also too much armor, that you couldn't fight with your eliteships just heavy frigate of borg. It was impossible to kill them. I reduced armor to an acceptable level. I gave also to all races weapons against borg. Borgvirus can use 1 support vessel and is more efficient against them. Also support capital ship got assimilation counter.

I also changed tractor beams a little to keep the balance.

- I changed the roles of Federation ships. Intrepid is longrange, defiant not capital ship anymore but very important to fight agains borg, Akira became support capitalship, exselsior carrier, centaur became shield restore and repairing, etc.

- I gave 1 homehangar with special fighters to defend homeland. Roletype is superweapon but it is not so hard. Just help at beginning not to be crashed fast. For all 3 planets you have you can get 1.

Take a look at your tactical buildings.

- starbases can move now only not that from borg. I changed this cause AI cannot put the starbase to a correct place. It stays sometimes too stupid that you can get the planet very easy. Starbase of borg cannot assimilate eliteships anymore. This was too hard.

- I put some new pictures and music. 

- Move of starships changed as mentioned before.

 

This mod I made to have a balance between the races and not only to play against borg. I tried to make it most realistic and took informations when I was making this mod about races and starships in internet.

Even with new changes borg can be OP again especially when they can assimilate eliteships of other races at the beginning. When they cannot get them you could see a normal enemy during the game.

Just overwrite the old SOA2.6R files with SOA2 mod. Extract them to the main folder. You can take the original one if you don't want to keep it.

If you can give me some feedback I would like it much to make a better balance especially.

I am getting crazy with this. They made again one update and you cannot stop steam to get these updates.
