help needed

how do you create a modd (from downloading mod maker to the first step of creation)

i downloaded everything already to create a modd but i have no idea what file from the mod creator goes where and how to activate the programs to start working.  im attempting capitol mods surrounding capitol ships and abilities if that helps anyone who might aid me.

There's a pdf included in the download (or should be) that gives you a general rundown and some examples of how to get started on the modding :)

For the basic modding there's nothing to get started. Just start opening the .entity files in GameInfo and go at it. Ship stats, research techs, planets, abilities.. all of it's in there. The actual utils are for advanced stuff like editing particle effects, importing models, etc.

o ok i found the tutorial its easy to follow but i cant do what its asking because i cant find the lines in the text that its asking for . its very frustrating but i really want to learn how to do this stuff."Open up CAPITALSHIP_PSIBATTLEPSIONIC.entity in your favorite
text editor.
4. Search for “MaxHullPoints”. You should see “StartValue
2100.000000” right below it. Change this to “StartValue 1337000”.
Save and close this file." i cant find this line.

i know im being a bother but everyone starts somewhere.
