Different Planetsizes Sol-System-Mod [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

Different Planetsizes Sol-System-Mod [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

Our Solarsystem (under construktion)

hello guys,

i create a mod for our sol-sys.

the idea was different sizes vor every planet, so as real the moon is a little mouse and the gasgiants are big bad lions.

here some screenshots:
btw: the texture for the last planet(neptun-size) isnt ready, so its a dummy ;)

and sorry for my terrible english, i´m a german modder :D

for all the german speaking guys, follow this link to the soase.de-forum
there is a thread with background informations

Earth:

Mars:

with cities ;)

the Moon:

and now different sizes:

fuckin awesome.... :CONGRAT:

i hope the size-distance relations work out aswell so u could make a "saturn theorie" formation with 2 or 3 planets in a row.

Considering that the game is set some time in the future, could you expand the cities on Earth? Perhaps, like say, the Boston-Atlanta Metropolitan Area Gibson uses in Neuromancer could be included?

@tunabreath
So pretty... I love the scale shots - they make everything feel even more epic (more epic than vanilla Sins?! I KNOW! )

We just have to up the ship speeds so that they can traverse a gravity well in a reasonable amount of time. More details: can you increase the gravity effects for larger planets? I know that Sins has gravity built in so that moving toward a planet is faster than moving away from one, but could you make the effect more pronounced around larger/more massive planets?

Io is lovely. Is Titan next or are you going to fill out Jupiter more before moving on to Saturn?
End of quote

thanks for your words :D the gravity effects are every time the same, but i will looking for changes by differend planets
btw the next moons are Europa, Ganymed, Callisto...and then Titan ;)

@CanadaMan777
holy moley, those are huge planets!!! good work!
End of quote

thank you :D

@hypergiant
I have a suggestion for when you finish the solar system. Can you increase the size of the current gas giants in game? And then add a category for "gas giants" that include the solar system models. It would increase the variety of gas giants for random maps.not sure if it is possible but it would be great.another idea i had was to make gas giants more strategic in that you could place 6 or so resource asteroids around it, but keep it uncolonizable, that way you would have to defend it with ships. Not sure if you could use crew extractor ability around a planet though.keep up the great work
End of quote

as first, all planets are new, no one from the orginal are changed...but i have some different planetsizes for those already created ;)
i can create more and more meshes for the gas-giants, so they have more variety, i think you believe that...and yes the gasgiants are all uncolonizable, so are the moons more interested for expanding...but the resources are around the gas-giant

nice that you like it, yes of curse...i creat a formation with all planets and moons in a row, when its done...so you can see how huge Jupiter and Saturn...btw the idea is, the gasgiants are little systems in the sol-system ;) but its only a idea...not final

yes yes, i want to do it already :D

@leonel1982
Hurry up! This is awesome and I want it!

thanks for your interesting :) but its not ready...i´m only one person...and its done...when its done :LOL: but i think about 1-2 weeks

the next moons are pre-ready :LOL:

i know they have a little atmosphere...but i cant make a choice who looks better
the first both are without...the next two are with atmosphere

Europa:

Ganymed:

Callisto:

i hope you like it :D

freakin nice man!

did u make the textures urself or did u use satellite photos of hubble or something?....cause the detail is jawdropping.

this textures have all satellite photos as base, but they are all assembly by me!
all photos are for free, but there is no commercial application...also i can use it for those things :LOL:
you must know, the genuine photos are little rectangle, so i can use the very high details for customized maps

Ganymede is the only one I think looks ok without an atmpsphere.

amazing is all i can say

fantastic, absolut great.

ich bin absolut begeistert. echte sternensysteme.

Ironclad should include this mod in the expansion and they should make a similar attempt for the random generated systems.

"Real" sized star systems, a dream comes true.

@Nemiro
sure, but i think i include both into the mod...with a short instruction how to install ;)

@mrt181

thank you for your words :) nice to see thats many people like it
those days i have not mutch time, but i try to finished it next week :D

btw: i created some planet-meshes for the planets they are already exist...so are more variables for random generated systems

I like this Mod
End of quote

thanks Killy_Blame :D

and here are two of the next "Titan" and "Pluto"

Titan

Pluto

btw: there are 17 more moons and other objects to create :LOL:
Reply #39 Top
Are major asteroids such as Ceres going to be included? And what about Kuiper Belt objects? Sorry if I sound demanding, just curious. Looks like a great mod in any case.

yes of curse...here is a list of some comming soon ;)

Triton, Eris, "2005 FY9"+"2003 EL61" (btw they get other names)...Titania, Oberon, Sedna, Orcus, Rhea, Quaoar, Ipetus, Charon, Ariel, Umbriel, Dione, Ceres and Thetys

Reply #41 Top
just a little tip to make it more realistic i would get rid of the asteroids around earth and instead make the moon a mining thing like make the moon and earth appear in the same spot like there gravity wells overlap a bit but the moons would be a lot smaller and it would have crystal and metal deposits
Reply #42 Top
because i had 2 holidays of last week and the weekend and i traveled to the "north sea", there was no progress for this mod

but towards evening i will continue to work ;)

@yoadjla

yes first i had the same idea, but later i think about a finished map where the moons are already placed near by the planets, in connection with gasgiants they have a major part for planetary basements...because gasgiants are "not" colonizable!! but full with asteroids :p

i was wondering, since uranus' rings don't go around its equator but more from north to south pole as it lies on its side, will this be in ur mod aswell?
Reply #45 Top
I have to say this mod is perfect for the game. One thing I have a hard time with is ship to planet scaling. I can't stand seeing a ship that's 1/8th the size of a planet, it makes me think the ships are undergunned if they appear to be several hundred miles in length, something like this will give a greater sense of realism to the game, and even make room for larger battle scenes. :HOT:

This also gives me a suggestion...a custom map, multiple star systems, with Sol as one of them, and others surrounding it. There could be the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter which could act as a major resource point, having a large number of metal and crystal asteroids. :CONGRAT:

That would be uber wicked awsm.

Don't forget that Neptune has rings as well and that those rings are extremely hard to see compared to Saturn's. (I think the number of rings was like six or seven)

seeing a "realistic" solar system build -yes, I was an EVE player and liked it- ie... that galaxy forge built solar systems semi-realistically -wtf is with ice planets near the sun?

/sighs

LOOKS GOOD BUT I HAVE ONE QUESTION WONT IT TAKE YEARS FOR A SHIP TO GET ROUND IT AT THERE CRUENT SPEED
