Different Planetsizes Sol-System-Mod [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

Our Solarsystem (under construktion)

hello guys,

i create a mod for our sol-sys.

the idea was different sizes vor every planet, so as real the moon is a little mouse and the gasgiants are big bad lions.

here some screenshots:
btw: the texture for the last planet(neptun-size) isnt ready, so its a dummy ;)

and sorry for my terrible english, i´m a german modder :D

for all the german speaking guys, follow this link to the soase.de-forum
there is a thread with background informations

Earth:

Mars:

with cities ;)

the Moon:

and now different sizes:

May I ask what size textures you use for your planets? Because those closeups are pretty high-detail so I've been wondering whether you have some new tricks up your sleeve or are you just using high-res textures (larger than 2048x2048)?

Other than that, superb work. :)

the last stand mod is somethin similar the size of the planets vary and r much bigger so r the gravity wells....

Now this is very impressive. I am surprised i didnt see this until now.

4096 resolution textures are very possible in sins. The default skybox backdrops use 4096 resolution textures.  I wouldnt use that resolution myself on any ship, or planet texture, because it would fry my poor laptop GPU. However if you got a decent system that can handle it, hey knock yourself out.

As I've been recently alerted to this... BUMP

Any progress? Is anyone else doing something similar I could use for my mod?

This is really cool.

Aww crap, I just went to the download link posted on page 3 and it isn't showing the download :(

Its probably not for 1.1 either. :(

Can someone who understand german raid their forums to see if they've updated it or not?

Wow Nice work. Is this going to be made entrenchment compatible?

well I happen to have the original files for this mod so i deciced to update it. which I will begin in the next few days...

and since im a huge fan of the soa2 mod good work stress and shimmer! im going to try to make this mod compatible with soa2 due to the fact that soa2 needs new planets to discover and all that!

I have already merged sins plus by uzii thanks to anatar and his work on updating sins plus so it shouldnt bee to hard to merg all 3 mods for a romping good time!

ok that romping bit was a little too polly anna, sorry!

I know stress doesnt want multiple versions of soa2 out there to confuse mutiplayer relm so I will attempt to just make it a patch type deal... as in you just copy these new files into any mod and use at your own risk no support type thing.

wish me luck!

Did Cybdevil give universal usage to this as long as it's credited? If so I wouldn't mind adding this to my mod. Any lucky sending me your finished bit when you're done?

If so, Thanks!

OMG

I think i have jizzed a little.  This looks GREAT!  That earth is so unbelievably realistic.\

And with this mod, moons seem to be more acceptable to be within the grav well.

Sol System Mod

Well there you can find the Mod, that you're searching for. Probably Cyberdevil won't respond to any Mail you send him.

But i believe the is nothing wrong to use his mod.

what is the program most commonly used for texturing planets?

well I did it,

http://files.filefront.com/Solar+Mod+by+Cybdevil+v02zip/;12908132;/fileinfo.html

is the link to the mod, I changed a few minor stats such as gravity well size and enlarged the stock suns by a masive amount to help give Cybdevil's planets more visuale kick.

It is a mod in and of itself but, I made notes as to what you need to do to just add it to most any mod easily.

anyway, I hope you all enjoy this version of Cybdevil's work as much as I do!

ok so I'm messing around and remember that HammerSun another german modder had moons in his mod so i go poking around and took the file for moons and put it into Cybdevil's mod...

so far so good it all works so I decide to use the actual moons in Cybdevil's mod to put around his planet's thinking since they look so good as individual planets and thay are scaled fairly well it should work.

so i do a bit of re aranging and got them into the mod, everything looks great all the planets have moons now some more than otheres and of course Earth has a moon called luna!

the problem is that these "moons" look great as individuale planets but for some reason they fail as moons graphicaly.

so my question is how to fix this so they look good!

thanks for your help

Will that work for entrenchment?

i do not have entrenchment, but it just mods the GalaxyScenarioDef and string files alxo I included instructions to make this mod work in any mod so if you have it feel free to update it.

Locks my entire computer up.

Have entrenchment; dunno if that's why...

thats probably why, youd need to look at all the notes i made in the main mod folder and see if you can get them to work.

or someone can send me non binary string and galaxydef files and i could make the adjustments.

I'll see what I can do this weekend.

I added this mod to the SOA 2 mod and the mod doesn't crash. However, when choosing teams, the Star Trek races are shown as "String not found" also the vanilla Sins races or unlocked. I don't know how to fix the mod so that the Star Trek races are only shown and the vanilla Sins races are locked.

As for the mod itself, the planets and sizes are great, I love how the gas giants are massive and the same with the sun. I can't wait until the moons are added and is it possible for the moons to be colonized? I would think that if you can colonize a planet you can colonize a moon.

It's the string file that is causing the issue. You'd have to find the different string files for the planets and add them to the SOA 2 string file.

I'm guessing you probably replaced the original SOA2 string file so you'll have to get a new one.

yep if your going to merg it you need to follow the directins i left. :P

hope you backed up the string file and since you messed up that file you probably messed up the galaxydef file too.
