STAR CONTROL in SOASE / Master of Orion

STAR CONTROL in SOASE / Master of Orion

Greetings All,

I just wanted to get this thread going, so hopefully there are others out there like me.  Is there anyone oit there who would like to see the STAR CONTROL or Master of Orion races in the game?  I am a huge fan of these, and still play them today.  These classic space games first wet my appetite for space strategy games, and I would love to see them brought to new life in the Sins world.  If there is anyone out there who wants this or is interested in helping it become reality, please post here!  I have found some 3DMax models out on the web, but I don't have 3DMax to convert them to the Sins format.  So anyone who can do this please let me know.

Calling all modders!!!!

As having never played MOO or MOO2, but instead started with MOO3, I cannot say how much they are better than M3, but for all the weakness 3 had, it wasn't a bad game. It didnt stack up to Gal Civ2, which I loved. But it wasn't the worst space strat game I've played either, there are lots of them out there. Anyway, love the mods, keep up the good work.

Thank you DeadlySeraph,
As a fan of the MOO series, part 3 really ruined the original 2. It was not a bad game, much of it was well improved. But that was ruined by the lack luster battle system, which the other two games had at ther focal point. The battles were epic, while MOO# was more of a whimper.
And yes, GalCiv2 was awesome.

UPDATE:
Go to the 7 DEADLY SINS forum to check out the new UR-QUAN KOR-AH Maruader, both old stuff from the original game and now IN GAME IN SOASE!

I still look for a game that will ascend to moo2's throne, but alas, none exists. :( moo2, and a game called War Inc, as well as warzone 2100 took unit customization to new levels, and nothing lately has compared.
an updated star wars: Rebellion would be welcome.

I first plated Star Control in middle school - my explorations class had old computers for use once you finished your work. Star Con dueling was a daily adventure (along with Cow Wars, but I won't go there now). Ever since then, I've tried to get the original working. I like Ur-Quan Master (SC2), but it's a little weird.

If it were the Alliance of Free Stars vs. the Ur-Quan hegemony, it'd work fine. There were some ships with obvious other weapons. The Chmmr Avatar (I think, it had the dogs, right?) had something like 6 long shafts in front that could easily be construed as weapon ports. As long as it seems reasonable, fan-fic works. Maybe have a website that polls players if they think something is good enough for use?

I found this some time ago. Some fan made the Ur-Quan a custom race for SE4, maybe his ideas could lead to a whole race?

Master of Orion 2 ROX - even today, graphic for it's age doesn't look so bad while sound and music are perfect :D

My experience too. I played SC when I was a kid, and it has stuck with me ever since. I dumped HOURS and DAYS into the game, especially HyperMelee, the battle system. Also, just to clarify, the Chmmr were the half Crystal, Half Robot Hybrid race that piloted the Avatar, a ship that looks like a big X-wing with satellites around it, and had a red laser that was uber powerful.
As far as a website poll, I started one on the official 7 DEADLY SINS website.
Feel free to check it out.
Also, thanks for the link! I will check it out right away. I was also thinking the same think, the Alliance of Free Stars vs. the Ur-Quan Hierachy of battle thralls.

Mr. WHO
Master of Orion 2 is on top of my list of best games of all time. I STILL, to this day, play the game. That's telling you how good the reply value is. I will be adding MOO it too, but more in the way of planets and tech, since the races didn't get specific ships, just either what the player picked or random assignment.
There were a few ships, however, like the Orions and the Antareans, that I might consider doing. The Antareans were the ultimate bad guys.

If you have the means, I STRONGLY suggest picking up a copy. The mere fact that SINS is close to MOO is part of the reason why I bought the game in the first place.
Modding was another big reason.

Don't worry, you will in the next release of 7 DEADLY SINS.
The Ur-Quan will be unleased upon the universe. Just be sure to get out of their way of "cleansing".

I've just shown up and am pleased to see I'm not the only one who's thought about this excellent concept.  DANMAN: please explain what 7 Deadly Sins is, if you would.  I'd love to check out any possibility of a MOO2 influence on the SOASE universe.

Ampule,

7 DEADLY SINS is a mod here, one of the biggest mods.  It is a combination mod, plus tons of my own ideas, including aspects of Master of Orion and Star Control.

Check it out and see for yourself!
