Watching and controlling replays?

In the future, would it be possible to add better controll over the replays? like more speed fastforward and maybe also the ability to rewind?
Or does this features allready exist? if yes how do i access them?

Speed goes up to 8x at present. Rewinding is not feasible though--replays are not videos, just a list of the commands issued by everyone in the game, replayed to produce the same outcome.

I have never downloaded a .replay file and got the game to show it in the list of files in the watch tab (for any type).

How does the game recognize .replay files that you download from other players? I have found the folders required. Does the .replay file have to be in the same exact folder that it was originally saved in (if it was saved in the Single-Player folder, does it need to be loaded from that folder, rather than the AutoSaved folder)? Do multiplayer files have to be loaded from the multiplayer folder to watch them?

Also, I notice the .record files that my game makes do not have the same name that I give them in game.

I would really like to watch some of these big multiplayer matches that have been uploaded, but they never are recognized.

Nah it doesnt have to be in same folder. I put the downloaded replays into singleplayerrecorded folder cause its easier to find in game

Ok, that makes sense. But what do you do if the game doesn't recognize any foreign (not made by itself) .record files no matter where I put them? They don't show up on any of the lists... I'm sure I have the right data folder location, as all my save games appear there, and when I delete them in game, they are deleted from the neighboring relevent folders. I even accidently pressed that dreaded delete all in category button and cleared all my saved games once (Grr).

I've been trying the recent ones on the stardock website. Maybe I need to go elsewhere I find some home-brewed .record files?

That seems like a bug... did you use different users to put those files in the directory? It seems like a weird windows file permission problem. Are you using Vista?

I'm using windows XP Pro. I only have one user on the system.
