Questions about the Demo

Read above.

Questions about the Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords demo.
1. Will it be released at the same time as the full version?
2. Will it be downloadable from the Stardock or Galactic Civilizations websites?
3. Will it be free or for a price? What price?
4. What will it contain?
5. Will it support the same screen resolutions and have the same system requirements? What are they?

If this has already been answered (all five of them) then just point me in the right direction.

Probably a bit early for solid answers but lets see if I can help:

1. Shortly before or after (up to a month either way I think as its a promotional tool)
2. Its certainly going to be availiable for download from this site, the GC1 demo can still be downloaded from the GC1 site so Stardock will do the same here.
3. Surely free, who would charge for a promotional item?
4. Probably the full game with a map size restriction and/or turn limit.
5. I dont see why it wouldn't support the same screen resolutions, it has to attract as many buyers as possible after all. Can't remember the exact res off hand.

1) Shortly after the game is released (probably 3 weeks after)

2) It will be downloadable.

3) The demo would be free

4) It will allow players to play as a set galaxy size on the Metaverse-only (on-line play only) and require them to play as humans against a set number of alien players for X number of turns.

5) It will have the same system requirements and capabilities. It will be optimzied to be a smaller download size so it won't have the cinematics.

i always thought that a demo after a game release was stupid (i always thought that designer knew game wasnt as good as they had hyped so releasing demo afterwards due to it turning people off ) and i almost never get a game where a demo is after wards ( i never buy a game with no demo and never will)

Part of the reason why late betas are great for some people... a trial run with an almost-complete game.

I can tell you just from beta 3 so far, this is a solid game. I'd rather they focus their efforts on finishing the game instead of making a demo.

releasing a demo will improve sales significantly and increase the chances of getting that multi-player expansion so many people apparently want

lol. i think its just 1 person wantin mulityplayer with many acounts . also u can really only get a beta by preording the game, so u already payed so the comapny is loosin nothin from a beta to already payin the custermers

Ok, thanks for the information.

I now know that I can be absolutly certain that I will like the entire [Metaverse mode] [with restrictions] part of the game.
Oh, now I've thought of another question. What's the file size? So I can estimate the download time.

Edit: Where can I find the system requirements?

I've always thought that releasing demos before release was foolish personally.

I've never seen the benefit of releasing a demo before a game's actual release. Let the people who buy the game sight unseen get the first look at it. Then those who are on the fence can try the demo and buy the game then if they like it.

i normally like to plan ahead and a demo before is great for that, i find if a demo is out a bit before, then u can think about when u have time to get (or make time) also i find if a demo isnt released before then u normally judeg to buy a game on its review, and i wont waste my money (since im a student and always broke) and wont buy a game under a 90% (even thought potentially i could find it the best game ive ever playec)
