Is there anyway to add Horemvore's Star Trek mod to Gauntlet's race mod?

Hello folks

 

I was trying to add Gauntlet's race mod to Horemvore's Star Trek mod to create one huge mod with lots of ships but I've had no joy so far.

 

I don't know how to combine two objgfxcfg files into one file that the game will except since it won't run on to object config files. 

 

Has anyone managed to do this successfully? Or does anyone have any tips on doing this?

Why are you trying to combine objfxcfg files?

In GST's "For your Game Directory" folder and GRM's "For your Game Directory" folder you will find some zip files. You need to combine these with each other in order for shipsets to show up correctly. It probably best to extract the ones from GST to an empty folder then "add" them to GRM's or vice versa.

You should have no issues using the Mods GRM and GRM-M with GST. (Not GRM-PRT or GRM-A, they are incompatible)

Sorry I'm a bit of a newbie, it was the zip files that I meant  Horemvore. 

 

Are they not objfxcfg files? 

 

Unless do you mean the zip files called 'ships' I can find in the directories for your Star Trek mod and Gauntlet's race mod?

You need to unpack your zip files as you install them. They are compressed files.

Install GRM. (Fully)

Install GST. (Fully)

Remove GRM-PRT & GRM-A from the mods folder.

Extract this file to ...steam/apps/common/GalCiv3 (Or where ever you installed the game) Overwrite when prompted.

That's a mighty gift. 

 

Sadly I can't seem to get it running though. It keeps crashing before it loads up. No error messages or anything. 

 

I tried to run just the Star Trek mod on it's own - obviously deleting all the GRM mod stuff except the ships in the My games/designs folder - but it keeps crashing before it is loaded.

 

Do you have any advice you could give me about this?

GST 0.4? Sounds like you dont have the Text overflow fix installed.

Just ran through a couple of trial runs

 

Perhaps I could remove a couple of files from the Core Mod, do you think or one of the other ones? 

 

Can I get rid of the text files?

Hi Hormevore. 

 

Had success by not installing the text files. I can work around that. 

 

For some reason though the game doesn't recognise the Torian shipstyle which I use for one of my factions. 

I tried to add it to the objgfxcfg file in the Startup folder but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with it as it still fails to appear. 

 

Couldn't ask for any ideas/ tips could I?

There is a Mod included with Alpha 0.4, 1.82 Text Overflow Fix, this is required to get GST to load correctly. It removes text from the base game Campaigns, which you can not use with mods anyways.

What do you mean the Torian shipstyle wont load? If it the base games shipstyle, I have no issues with it. What happens exactly? Any error messages?

Yeah, doesn't load a faction because the style is not there:

 

The faction... has failed to validate for the following reasons and will not be available: +unknown shipstyle

 

I tried adding the Torian survey ship to the objgfxcfg file and there is a Torian survey ship in the Startup folder in Designs. But for some reason it is not recognised

The Faction... why omit the name? You must have changed something or added a custom shipstyle. Validate your game files. Check your shipstyle for errors.

Sorry to be a newb again but how do I validate the game files. 

 

I didn't add a custom shipstyle to the Adhocracy of the Chit - that's the name :), I omitted it for no real reason - but I did add custom shipstyles obviously...

You say you didnt add them then you did, confused.

They work without the mods active? Are your shipstyles, xml based? if so you will need to combine them into or make them compatible with any  mods you are using.

Sorry that was maybe a little unclear.

 

I gave the Adhocracy of the Chit the Torian shipstyle. I did add custom ship styles to the game and am playing them with other factions but not with the faction that won't validate - that is Torian shipstyle.

 

I don't know how to validate files.

That worked really well up to a point. I can now see the ship classes and select them and the new Star Trek tech trees. 

 

But when I try and load the game it crashes and I get a Galactic Civilisations III notice offering me the chance to explain what the problem is. 

 

I had a quick scan through the debug report but I wouldn't necessarily know what I was looking for. 

 

Sorry to bother you again but do you have any advice to help me get the game and the mods up and running?

Sounds like it is failing on Map generation, usualy this means there is a broken Planet or System, I know all the GST Planets and Systems work, I fixed this a while back. What other mod adds planets? You may want to check its loading the systems planets right.

I've been getting crashes with GRM whenever I open up the Mercenary Bazaar.  I figured one of his mercenary ships is incompatible with 1.83.

I had a similar problem when using Gauntlet's mods - including the mercenary expansion. I stopped opening the Mercenary bizarre. 

 

Horemvore - would I be able to pair things back by removing all the files on your mod to just the ships or does your mod have dependencies that mean lots of different changes have to stay?

I'm not sure how to tell which mercenary is causing the issue. 

 

The mod worked fine with the first 1.83 BETA, but after the second I didn't have any luck opening the Bazaar.  The game would crash to desktop.

 

Any way to determine what ships are in the Bazaar outside the game?

Hrm. It crashes on you EVERY time? That seems very unlikely. That would imply at least the majority of ships/mercs are broken, I'm able to load the game about 5 times now without any crashing and I'm def in the opt-in.

Probably no way to know exactly which Merc other than trial and error on my part (modding the game to Only have ONE merc at a time and setting its appearance rate to 100% and then loading, and then rinse and repeat until I get a crash)

I'll let you know if I find anything.

I had a chance to try again and it seems to be working fine. 

 

Might be the hotfix from 10-31 fixed something.

 

I'll start a tally of the mercenary ships that are available and see if it stays stable after several starts.

Hello folks

 

I've encountered another problem. I seem to have lost a number os shipsytles although they are in the My Games/ design  and in the startup and design sections of Galciv 3 on steam. 

 

Now the: Andorian, Borg, Cardassian, Dominion, Klilngon, Romulan and Vulcan ship styles disappear?

 

Any thoughts on what the potential problem might be?
