Tech trading vs. audiences

Quick question:

I'd like to limit the number of audience requests in a game. I want to try playing as an isolationist. If I turn off tech trading and brokering, will the number of requests reduce? Is there any connection?

Yes it should. Being an isolationist is more how you play than everyone else why would that stop others from trying to break isolation i don't know why. Before perry their were others who tried unsucessfully to establish a connection with japan.
