Real life distractions from modding.

Real life distractions from modding.

What's been keeping you from modding lately?

My story:

Besides the whole summer being monopolized with summer basketball tournaments on the weekend (all weekend!), I embarked on a quest to finally build a deck by our swimming pool. While not quite a 100% yet, I just installed the ladder and am ready for the 4th of July party we are having. I'll be finishing the remainder hopefully this weekend :D

I started this project about 4 weeks ago in my spare time and finally had the last Weekend to devote fully to the project.

I've also been playing Rebellion some online too when I get a chance :P

What a great thread!

Although I'm very jealous about a couple of things, like the pool and the weather you guys are having.

Just had one months worth of rain in one day here in the UK. Seriously.

As for real life distractions, my two year old girl, my wife and my job seem to manage between them to take up every waking moment. The only chance I get to sit down and work on my mod is after 11pm when I everyone's in bed. Although a couple of beers later and I'm ready for bed myself. A sure sign of getting old.

My excuse's

AGE.. I am 48.

A RL Job that demands 12-15 hours a day from me.

A Muse that has abandoned me.

and in what little free time i got... Lethargy :/

Not that hot now in Southern California (YET), but i expect it to become pure hell come August, and September. Did one summer in Arizona, and that was enough! I pity the midwest now.

Work, work and work. Then tons of band practice and then working on the girlfriends house and then back to work, and then, and then, and then...................aaaaahhhhhh !!!   No More and Then.

After seeing zombie's pool I'm thinking about loading up the vans with the gear , the band, beer and heading to his house. It was 104 degrees here today.

I went with the fancy blue glow on my tower.

On a side note, that can't be a UPS at the bottom of your desk.  What is that?  It's big enough to be another desktop.

All that glow aint gonna make it go.. :D

No, but the parts inside do. I built the comp myself so adding a little LED for a few bucks more was just icing on the cake.

Yes, it's a UPS. Power spikes and outages are fairly common where I live.

That's one of the bigger UPSs I've ever seen.  It's about the size of the ones where I work at (and I work at a hospital).

nice little ups, have seen and tried to MOVE a larger ups (about the size of the desk WITH computer AND 2 crts). ended up using a 5 tonne forklift after demolishing the wall to get the forklift in.

but as usual all ups' only are good for the life of the batteries ie about 3 years

I have a new real-life distraction to add to the list.

My main hard drive with 2.5tb of invaluable storage/backups is basically dead and I am trying to recover it. It contains over 7 years of project work and resources, including a ton of stock video and a terabyte of music, as well as all of my private developer video media and such I've created in that timespan.

Probably the end of my custom content creation.

Ouch!. Been there, done that. I feel your pain.
