So how is it?

I just got an email a few hours ago stating the game is now available. I was just watching an LP of the beta and it looks like its not much different then the original game with expansions. One thing that turned me a bit off was the ship models in many of the screenshots. I never was a fan of ships which look like creatures. This was one thing that I always loved about the original game, the ship models were just the coolest looking things like straight from a sci-fi movie or something. I wish they had never went to the more unrealistic creature or robotic looking style that some space games have went to. I am glad at least the Terran ships still have that cool style. Well enough about that as I doubt it will stop me from buying it, so how is the game itself? I imagine since it looks so much like the original, they could not go too wrong with it.

If you love Sins, you'll love Rebellion.

But for your own good, don't go browsing into the forums too much. Things are kinda - heated - right now between two groups of power-hungry lunatics with the Developers caught in the middle.

O.K so the new additions are well worth the asking price. The game has changed drastically but if you already own diplomacy and feel it is superb i would wait a little while until picking up rebellion. For me it was well worth it because the added units, factions and tech trees has altered the game immensely

Rebellion is a great deal if you've never played Sins before or maybe just the original (no expansions). If you already have them then indeed the game won't be radically different than what you were used to. If you're in no hurry by all means I'd wait until its $20. Besides, by then all the mods should be updated, and hopefully take advantage of all sorts of crazy stuff that was changed behind the hoods.

Haha, I bet the new release syndrome has showed itself in the forums although I had not noticed it. Example, right after a game is released you get lots of complainers and trolls in the forums no matter how good a game is. I did notice some solid reviews coming in so it is on my to buy list. I still have endless space and legends of pegasus on that list as well. Too many games, too little time.

If you like to play online, stay away, avoid it like a plague.

Monitor the whine level on forums and when the main issues are fixed, come back.

Sins Rebellion is still a fantastic single player and co-op vs AI game, and the new content only makes it better.  Competitive multiplayer...has issues right now.  Wait until the next patch if that's your main interest, or at least for the trolls to stomp off and go somewhere else.

If your a Sins vet, not enough content to justify its price.... very disappointed and seeking a refund.
