Warning: This Post Should Not be Viewed by Anyone.

<Rant> Alright. I have never considered myself a forum troll, but the latest update really makes me feel like one, so maybe I am one and just didn't know it yet.

You have been warned.

After updating to 1.11, I have had nothing but problems loading my mod which I spent easily 45+ hours on. Fine, if you don't want to make the game mechanics interesting or dredge up any compelling creative inspiration whatsoever for the game, ok... I can spend a little time doing that myself, sunk-cost effect and all. Plus, I'm on vacation.

But, when trying to load this mod, which worked PERFECTLY in version 1.10, I have gotten nothing but crashes to desktop as the game loads. I'm not doing anything fancy or exotic, and the majority of those previously mentioned 45 hours were spent testing to make sure that the code actually worked. But now, I can't even play the ******* game. I removed all the mod files and rebooted, and recompiled the xml. Still got the CTD. I reinstalled the game with the mod files gone. Good, I get one successful load. I think that maybe it was a fluke. I put the files back in and I get a CTD.

Again, I repeat, I had easily 50+ successful loads of this mod before the update.

I remove the files, reboot and still get CTDs. I verify the installation and redownload the files that I apparently need. I get more CTDs. The debug.err is about as useful as a female midget in a ***** **********.

I thought that one of the major selling points of this game was supposed to be modability. I had assumed that you all had learned your lesson about quality assurance.

But you ************* should really consider testing before you release a ******* patch which breaks **** that people, who have supported your game to a fault have spent valuable ******* hours of their life working on. </Rant>

If they want to stay true to this, they need to be more sensitive to the fact that people put tons of work into mods (ie. don't delete any custom content without forewarning), and they should be much more open about what changes are going into a patch including what files are or may be impacted by changes.

It sucks, but that's part of modding. Patchs that don't break mods are the exception, not the rule. It's unrealistic for Stardock to test mods with new patchs, because most mods will probably be affected differently.

Well, it's not a coding problem. The way that spells are handled from 1.1 to 1.11 is the same. It's the new .exe's handling of loading the mod directory that appears to be the problem for me.

Dude, I think everyone is agreed that its you deleting your core files.

I can't help it. I got mad and just deleted them all. You're telling me that this is a problem?

Seriously, I have not touched my core files since a complete uninstall/reinstall. Maybe you can invoke some quantum mechanics to explain to me how my "bad deeds" in the past could be effecting a future complete reinstallation of the game.

If you're making a joke, well taken, but I told you several times in IRC that my core files are intact and verified.

Once more: my core files are intact and verified. Maybe I should just change my forum handle to this.

For the record, ranting is not trolling. If your post is entirely sincere and not just made to go pissing folks off, you're not trolling. Thus you need not feel like a troll.

Shame on you all for reading this post when the title specifically asked you not to. What would your mothers say?

I should say that even though the problem isn't fixed, Dewie from Stardock as well as several members of the community have been nice enough to help me out on IRC. For the record.

I did not read what I just read.

Really, I didn't.

You believe me, don't you?

I would like to politely request that people stop bumping this post.

Thanks to infrequent outbursts like this, my blood pressure is just absolutely fantastic. Similar to an 18-year-old triathalete. Because bottling it up is just unhealthy. But. It's out of my system, so let's just let it die.

Thanks!
