Yeah, I like free stuff.

Unfortunately, I don't consider installing Steam "free".

Yeah, awesome, and when steam is integrated to windows, it'll be a great windows service. ;)

loved diablo....but mentioning space siege along side a game like diablo is wrong raven....

DS1, good with no replay.  DS2 excellent with good replay. SS...ugh, suffice to say if anyone used that as a reason for pirating games before buying cause they bought that, the big corperations would have nothing on the little man ^^

That being said, worst case scenario, it's like spaceseige and it's free.  Best case, well I'm dreaming of 2 UT2K4 modes, invasion cross assault, so I'll definitely be trying it out

Thanks for the game news:)

"Yeah, awesome, and when steam is integrated to windows, it'll be a great windows service."

Personally I would prefer single integrated DRM platform then having seperate one for every game i play.

Right now there is about dozen of these: games for live, ubisoft game launcher or tages and other bullshits.

Each one updating itself when its wants, changing ur system files as desired, sometimes even loading every time you start your computer  using ur memory and cpu power without u knowing about it.

Man if i had one windows service for all my games which i can easily switch off and on why the hell not ;)

Besides it is not cheap to make game and i mean really not cheap at all. So im glad they only require me to install steam to get fully functioning game.I also belive steam will be in the game to manage multiplayer games and rankings.

Same as I had to have impulse for demigod and battlenet for diablo and starcraft or windows games live for dawn of war and gears of war or ubisoft launcher for settlers and assasins creed or (rotfl) ncsoft launcher for aion and rohan

Anyway, I played through the game on easy.  It was alot of fun and took only about 2 and 1/2 hours.  I could see myself paying $5 to $10 for additional content and will probably play through the game a few more times on more increased difficulty.  There were some networking issues here and there - took a bit to find a game I could connect to (and there's no info out there on what ports to forward, if needed), but once I connected, it was pretty smooth sailing and very enjoyable.

I've downloaded it and installed it but haven't played it yet. Felt too crappy last night to give it a go. I might give it a try tonight. Is there a way we can connect to specific players? If so we should throw together a Stardock forum member game and kick some swarm ass. :)

I'd feel really bad for the person who DOESN'T disable it from startup...LoL. Steam really isn't that bad. It only comes on when I WANT IT ON. It doesn't mess up my system and I've never really had any issues. I don't get why people down it either honestly.

Yes I know :P

What makes it really easy to tell is when one Stardock forums is having...issues...they're ALL having issues...LoL. But, I'd say it's a Great Boon if the only thing I can find wrong with the whole company and the games they make is lousy forum stability.

Yeah, other than a few server browser and P2P connection issues, it was a pretty fun game. Easily worth $10. Even better that it's free. I can't wait for the community content.

yup.  It has friend list functionality.  I'm either eme223 or pacov on steam.  Probably up for a game around 6:30pm est if you want to get one going.

did someone say networking/port-forwarding info was needed?  hehe

anyway, I'll look into the game.....it's not really my cup of tea......but ya never know unless you try it right? (plus it's FREE..... :) )

This free game pus to shame 'titles' like Space Seige and Greed.

And why does this remind me of Space Hulk so much?

It's more of a platform than a self contained game. People are already starting to make maps for it.

Because it has a group of Marines on a suicide mission to wipe out an alien infestation and they're outnumbered by odds of over a thousand to one.

I do hope we get an actual Space Hulk mod though, although it would best be done without the Space Hulk thing since Terminators don't have Apothecaries (medics) or Techmarines (Techs).  A cut-down command squad might work though with a Captain (NCO), Devastator (Special Weapons), Techmarine (Tech), and Apothecary (Medic).

Yeah, good point.

I kept thinking "OVERWATCH!" when playing and pointing my laser down a corridor while others do stuff.

The shotgun is made of win.

Going into a game without an ammo pouch somewhere on your team is suicide.

The auto turret is also made of win.
