Hi, after today I have patched to version "dip 1.21" is the graphics in the game no matter what the setting, visually low. You can see it very well spaceships to the Fed, where previously the "window" could see very clearly, is now all washed out. what can / could be the problem? or known?

Is probably still at my new Catalyst drivers (11.6). On my second PC with an Nvidia Graka the problem does not.
are there any plans to add aditional races in future releases?
no main races will be added however we have plans for planet defenders and pirates.

In the current build the borg seem to be able to take over excelsior class ships without even dropping the shields. Building them is pointless against the borg. I build intrepid and miranda class instead since they dont get taken over as easily. What would cause this? Thoughts?
There are two main methods for conversion.
The first is the regular assimilation ability, which works by having the target take damage during a brief period of time while it's being debuffed. A large fleet of Miranda's will have nearly twice as many ships as a fleet of Excelsiors does. The math is pretty easy here, twice as many targets to fire on means a much lower chance of being damaged at the right time to be converted. It's a case where bigger is most definitely not better.
The second is the capital version of the cutting beam, which converts any ship that is held for a sufficient period of time after it's shields are down, a significantly easier accomplishment against the Miranda thanks to the shield deficit. Bigger is inarguably and insurmountably better in this case, as not losing Miranda's to this ability is all but impossible while an Excelsior actually has the shields to do combat against a low level Queen Diamond, if not for long.
The regular assimilation method greatly outweighs in terms of overall impact. What it lacks is the ability to steal the big dogs from the capital ship slots. A mixture will always be better than using single ship fleets, high point, durable ships need to be screened with smaller ships or they'll be too vulnerable to drains and conversions.

me and two other friends are playing SoA 2 since 2 weeks and we tested all of your factions in detail.
Great work that you have done there. Just a few things that are still missing, like models and some parts of the tech tree that need to get updated and then it is THE perfect Star Trek mod, mostly jsut small stuff like I said.
We are really thankful for your great work and had allready a lot of fun with it..
We just chipped out ONE MAJOR problem which steals a lot of the fun, coz it is REALLY unbalanced:
The Klingon high end tech skill "Hide and Seek" is quite too powerful.
The other factions do not have anything to match this klingon power and noone of us was able to get rid of them even when they were just researched to Level 1.
Even when we used all our ressources to fight them (which was neccessary to survive), the klingon player can build up his forces and wipe us all out with his forces..... easily......
Please take this skill completely out or weak it heavily!
I prefer to fight 5 tactical cubes than the Klingon rebels.... really no joke... even when Captain Picardwould disagree in this point!
Otherwise, great mod and I can not wait to see the Romulan Star Base and your new update at all.

I see a small bug and would like to know if other player saw it to.. i am playing the Fed and when trying to jump from star to star it's impossible if the ships form a fleet.

yes the impending patch will almost certainly destroy the mod, from what i have been told. We are in process of uploading mod as i type. so stand bye for more instructions.

As with any major update to Sins the mod will have to be adapted to work with the new update. Diplomacy 1.3 will no doubt break the mod yet again. I remember pulling my hair out dealing with, and rebuilding the mod for all of the original sins, and entrenchent updates. So it will be again with Dip 1.3 since the diplomacy system is getting redone from scratch according to IC.
In situations like this i recommend ether not updating to 1.3, or make a backup of Dip 1.21 (i just zip up the entire sotse folder), and unzip it as a new install in a separate directory. That way you can play 1.3, and still be able to play mods on 1.21 until SoA2 gets updated for 1.3.

I'm trying not to be impatient, because so far this mod is my favourite way to play SoaSE, and I know it will be done whenever it's done, but... does this mean we might see a new version today?
I really hope so, my knee is busted from sport injury and I really want to play the new version to get my mind off it and all ![]()
