im curious as to why the prometheus class ship is not featured in this game seeing how it fits in nearly with the plot since the ship was a prototype war vessel to deal with the dominion threat and it only stands to reason that this ship would be shown as either one of the federations capital ships or heavy cruisers, in my opinion since the ambassador class is an older design i feel that the nebula should replace the ambassadors place and be the capital ship capable of colonizing seeing that it has the cargo and capacity of a galaxy class and the vacant spot once held by the nebula class to b filled in with the prometheus class. now the ambassador is a might ship and id like to still see it in the game so maybe just give the federation an extra option for their capital ships or bump it down to cruiser. 

 

ps in no way am i saying that im dissatisfied with the work u have out into this mod and in no way am i telling u to do anything, im simply curious why the prometheus class was skipped over for older ships that truth b told r so old they wouldnt stand a chance in the year 2388.

The whole point of the cheeseball Prometheus is the Multi-vector assault mode.  Not something that can be done in a game engine where you don't even have moving turrets.

primarily as her design we did not like, secondary to that in soa2 the federation more or less stopped building them. What few promie class that were left were destroyed during the invasion of ds9

Actually I wish all of you would stop suggesting to change this or that until the team has a chance to finish the mod. I'm really dying to see a Rommie starbase...  If you want the mod changed around to fit you personal opinion of what it should be, then change your copy of the Mod and let these guys get back to work.

However, having said that, I wish someone would go into the string file and change Roiders to Raiders like it should be...  Seems like every update or patch I have to go and do it myself... and it gets old after a while.

I like to think its because the Prometheus, as a concept, sucks.

Not to mention, it doesn't even make sense. Why have a ship that can break into four pieces when you can just have four different ships?

The reason why i chose the year 2388 as the timeline for the mod is to avoid the conflict with the JJverse. To basically totally ignore the jjverse as if it never happened.  I do not buy the alternate timeline theory, and i believe if we accept the events of the jjverse as canon then the timeline that we all know and, love has been wiped out in a paradox of epic proportion. We are basically making things up as we go along. Including what we think is the best of old school trek, and TNG. Leaving out what we think is the worst of it.

Dont get me wrong. Like i said before i liked the JJ version of trek. It was a very good movie IMO, but it will cause way too much conflict with "our" universe to accept it as canon. This mod is pretty much "fanon", but we are trying to make as much sense (for fiction) as possible.

I said NO to the Prommie from day one. Same with the Scimitar, and the absurd fire while cloaked B'Rel, because this is what we think is the worst of Trek (That includes pretty much 99.9% of Voyager, and half of Enterprise.) Prototypes, Uberships, or just plain absurdity (in our opinion) will not make it into the mod.

The Constitution is a capital ship, so is the Excelsior, the Miranda could be argued as well having similar power to a Constitution.  Trek don't work in Sinsville naming conventions.  It really doesn't work when you're using ships that range over a century, scaling up as they go.

 

The only other ship you could possibly put in the slot is the Lakota.  That means two Excelsiors, the base version is way down in power even compared to an Ambassador.  The only other option would be the Prometheus, which can't be done even if they wanted to.  MVAM isn't reasonable.

nah leave the defiant where it is, its a pure warship - very rare for the Federation and thus since this is a combat situation should be regarded as a capital ship, iirc its power systems are on par for most other vessles much larger than itself, its armour and armament warrant its production cost ingame.

 

tell you what though, the defiant is super cool when you give it the assault ability from the ambassador.

 

 

in my personal version of the mod (which I am not distributing ofc) all teh cap ships have got the starfleet marines ability and barely any bombing capability, the defiant has also gained the ambassador's ability instead of in-system warp as I felt its manouvrablility and sheer firepower wasn't being reflected, make it look awesome :P

In System Warp directions.

 

Cloak with level 3 ability(level 8 req), target enemy unit.  When the warp jump is made, the cloak is removed at the same time, applying both firing rate increases.  This gives it a temporary 1200+ dps.

 

Use in a tactical manner and no fleeing capital ship will ever survive.

The Lakota WAS where the Defiant is now. So we had 2 Excelsiors in the mod at one point in time. We moved the defiant from the heavy cruiser slot where the Intrepid is now. which we kicked the Akira out of the very same slot to put it in the anti structure slot... :/ The ships are in what we believe are the best, and most useful slots. Great care was taken to chose which slots to put what ships.

Constitution is an Explorer so we made it a scout. Miranda is a workhorse along with the Excelsior so we made them workhorse units. Mostly TMP era units are in the frigate slots. TNG, and above in the Cruiser, and Elite slots.

We are starting a 3 year old argument over again about what ships go in what slots. The arrangements as they are now are set in STONE they will not be changed. We only have to worry about what new ships go in what empty slots that are left.

Please don't make any more "ship slot suggestions". We got it all covered.

Diplomacy Loadscreen.brushes

onlyLoadOnDemand TRUE

True is default for this brush file. This tells me that we can have as many wallpapers as we like. I have removed all references to Startup_Loadscreen0, Startup_Loadscreen1 and Startup_LoadscreenEntrenchment. I am no longer using the picture frame in the loading screen so I made a new Startup.dds without it and the file is now half the size.

I have also notice quicker load time because each wallpaper is its own sheet (768kb) where the old style still had to load a large sheet (4 mb) with many wallpapers on it.

Hi, I haven't logged into these forums since the game first released.  Gota say the mod is awesome so far.  I played the first one for the entrenchment version, and it has come a long ways since.  Had 4 friends buy sins just to play this mod. So now we can do 6 player games, but 4 is most we've played with atm.  Overall the mod/game is very impressive.

 

Fed tip, build 2-3 galaxy's and research the crew leveling to 2 (lvl 4 ships) and research the engineering teams up to 2 and they are just about impossible to break in group, even fighting a much larger fleet.  16 of them is evil.

 

The graphics look awesome, love to zoom in on the klinks and cloak them past enemy lines, or watch B.O.P's make strafing runs.

 

Again awesome Job guys

Hello All ,  

 

Well time is upon us again to post a update about the mod . We as a team have been busy as bees mustering up the next release of SOA2.  Things to expect in the newest build. A realistic lcars menu  setup thanks to myfist0. More custom music. A completely reworked pact system for all races except borg as they will just annihilate or assimilate you,  thanks to psychoak. We are also proud to announce  The newest 3D model additions "Romulan starbase and of course our new dominion starbase model. The newest release is not perfect but defiantly a game that will suck you in and make you loose countless hours of time! We are gearing up for a initial diplomacy release at the end of this month if all goes well. Once we release a diplomacy release we reserve the right to update the entrenchment series but make no promises to do  so. Please all bear with us as we attempt to iron bugs and issues out. We will not  release a product that is flawed and doesn't meet our internal standards. Also people please stop asking about our ship line ups. Unless we ask for your thoughts on ship line ups or there is a issue with a particiular ship. Then simply dont post about it as it takes up space and this has been decided. The only new models you will see,  will be the diplomatic ships for all the races and those are currently topsecret. We are however taking fan submissions for the planetary defenders and pritate ships. Please keep in mind we also have plans for the fernegi and orion race, but welcome submissions.  :borg:

Pirates will be orions

fergengi and other minor star trek races will be  planetary raiders/defenders.
