Once again someone tries to armchair quarterback this mod to mold it into his little fantasy of what trek should be,... and the failure is epic.

I have said MANY times if there was something about the mod that you do not like then feel free to CHANGE IT. We left the files set up so you can do that.. How many times do i have to REPEAT myself?! We wont show you how to do it because there are TONS of tutorials on this community you can search through, and TBH i think this community is tired of holding hands. Especially when people try to troll. If your sole goal was to just piss me off.. guess what.. YOU SUCCEEDED.

This mod a version of JJ-Trek?! ROFLMAO!! WTF have you been smoking? and can i have some? This mod makes JJ-Trek look like disney. We do use some of the music from trek XI, but that is ALL we are using. We are also trying to avoid the Killer B Voyager GAYNESS that you seem to like so much. Did we ruin your pathetic vision of what Trek should be? Awwwwwww. Dont like the mod? Call a shrink, we are all broken men. Dont play it if you dont like it. Go ahead, and spread the word that this mod sucks to all of possibly TWO members of your gaming community. I am holding about 10000 pounds of pure compressed i dont give a flying f**k! You are only one person. There are MANY that DO like the direction we are going. We are not going to change that direction, but feel free to learn how to mod. Change it for yourself. Prove us wrong. You sound like all of the uneducated i am amazed they can use a computer at all they are that stupid twits from ModDB. ModDB thinks this mod sucks as well yet they constantly e-mail me for permissions to put it on a CD to release to "their" community (magazines, promotions etc etc).. I give them silence in return. Yea,.. This mod really sucks (and he walks out of the door snickering).

Wow things seem to have heated up here recently. Love the facepalm picture btw. Regarding Starbase Assimilation, as I said it was only a suggestion, balance permitting. If you don't feel it can be balanced I don't have a problem with it staying out- in all honesty it wouldn't make a massive difference. Regarding the ability "immunity", didn't really mean to spawn an argument over the Borg here either lol. 

 

Was watching some of the old TNG episodes, and thought of adding the "Picard Manoeuvre" to the Constellation class by tweaking the Marzas Missile barrage and the Nebula's Genesis Clone ability. To cut a long story short, I clearly don't know enough about how to mod for Sins, so I failed. But I'll leave it here as a suggestion if anyone more capable has the free time/ inclination to want to work on it.

 

Stress, keep up the good work, I know I speak for most of us when I say we can't wait for the diplomacy version. Though take as long as you need to do it, we'll try not to pressure you ;).

Stress, you may have the wrong opinion of me.  I like killer invincible Borg since they provide a nice "Oh God oh God we're all gonna die!" counterpart to the normal TNG Utopianism where the Federation can emerge unscathed after honorably vanquishing their foes in fair combat.

Actually, there's already an ability that will teleport a starship toward a target within a gravity well, which I think belongs to one of the Visari ships.  It can either be used as is or add some additional buffs for increased weapon damage.  Either would would be a piece of cake to include.

Mystic, that added to a temporary (one or two second) duplicate of the Constellation (in the position it was just in) is probably what's needed, and is what I tried to do- but as I said I was really just fumbling in the dark (and without simply giving it a massive recharge time have no idea how to make it a "one-shot" trick), and with Uni exams next week don't really have the time to figure it out. But I may see what I can do after the exams are over. Or I may just fail some more lol.

The Borg in every trek episode except endgame, and scorpion ( i didnt bother to watch unimatrix ) were the "Oh my god we are all gonna die" borg. That is the kind of borg we want to portray in the mod. However we are not making them "invincible". Only Very powerful as they should be. We are trying to make it to where you must use at least "some" diplomacy to form alliances. So you are better able to defeat the borg. It will be possible to defeat them solo. Just VERY difficult. Especially if you let them tech up. The balancing vs all four factions would probably still make the borg "weak" compared to how they should be. I mean if one cube can mow through a 50 ship fleet without a scratch (BOBW), or with very little damage (1st contact). Imagine the power of the entire collective. This is intended to be an epic battle between the combined armadas of the four factions vs the entire borg collective. Not just one cube. IIRC the Voyager bridge crew needed a change of pants when they saw 15 cubes show up.

I like the picard maneuver idea. Will like it better if it can be made to work (without causing dev errors).

The borg are the extreme opposite of the feds. The feds utopianism, and diplomacy skills are useless vs borg. Only their brains, ability rally other factions to their cause, and to "outsmart" enemys will be effective.

Nope, too slow.  Worf even smoked one while in a zero g space suit with severely restricted movement.  They're too tough to be wrestling with them unless you're Data, but rending into pieces works quite well for Klingons from what we've seen.

The ppl trashing this mod need to STFU... as for those of us that like it... keep up the good work mod team I look forward for the release of the diplomacy version. I myself have not seen every every series but I myself am a fan, I might not be well educated in star trek lore but I'm a big enough fan of the series to like it and understand many of the principles so again I say... good work

You guys seem to forget that we are a TEAM. I may be quarterbacking, and adding my own madness to the mod, but it is the TEAM that is making it all happen. You guys need to show respect to them as well. ;)

Come to find out there was already a Picard Maneuver in the game.  Go figure!  I've spent so much time modeling and texturing that I haven't even bothered to see what the end-result is turning out like.  Anyhow, the ability was just the bare bones; basically, it just simulated the warp jump with no reference to the true cleverness behind the maneuver, which was to create the momentary double of the Stargazer and throw the enemy sensors off.

You'll be glad to know that it now simulates the instantaneous warp jump, the sensor double (and a true illusionary ship), throws the enemy's targeting sensors off, and gives the Constellation class a momentary element of surprise that enables its weapons a small chance to drain some antimatter or to momentarily knock out warp drive, impulse engines, or weapons systems.  Testing will be necessary to make sure everything is balanced (numbers can be tweaked for all parts of the ability), but the Picard Maneuver is now ingame and nearly 100% accurate to the show. 

You can wait for it in the next mini-patch, or I suppose I could be convinced to pack just the necessary files and upload...

Wow thanks for that! Didn't realise it was already in the game, but glad that its been made accurate nontheless :).

 

Regarding all those (mostly cardie) ships without a description, do you have descriptions for them yet or do you still want someone to whip some up? I think I can manage that without dumping sins.

Seriously, that job belongs to someone else, but I was tired of seeing nothing.  Plus, I didn't have enough creativity left in me to do all of the Dominion ships after doing the Fed descriptions.  If you'd like to do them yourself, then by all means please do so.  We're all a bit burned out at the moment and can use any help that's offered.

 yes we actually have several abilities in game that are specifically designed for this mod to bring various innovations in technology to the different races. ie picard mauever, tractor beam, borg tractor beam and countless others  But will take any user submissions and look at how they will intergrate with the mod if applicable.  Also contact me mystic wanna chat about a few things I have been holding off on working on soa2 waiting on models from the team i have recieved a few more and will try and have them ingame within the next few days  real life allowing thanks josh

Its no secret that new models from me will be problematic due to my RL work scheduale. 14 hour days does not leave much time for creating new meshes, and i cant go without sleep. You know us old geezers need their naps. I did however manage to get all but 2 units for the klingons rescaled for 0.5.

The 0.4 series i am leaving in your hands as far as new content and updates.. Once i get the new foundations done we can work on intergrating all of the new content.

i was playing as borg, and i noticed that, besides statistics, all the borgs cubes are teh same... (the same abilities) this may have already been said but shouldn't they be a bit more specialised? Like the assimilation cube having 2 assimilation abilities or something?
