Everythign dies way to fast in this mod.
scouts barely make it past 2 systems, capitals die in medium sized battles even without being focus fired. System defenses are to easily outrangedm, starbases die like capitals.
did you mess with shield mitigation?
btw: titans? one would think the jemmy dread be a good ttian... being the freaking honking giant that it was in ds9....
Are you playing the Borg or are you being hit by the Borg?
Borg are way OP (like they are in Canon) and you need allies to repel/defeat them.
Are there any Titans in Star Trek? Are you playing Star Trek? or Sins Rebellion? The answer is No. No Titans. No "Uberships". The Borg are OP by design. You need to make allies to defeat them. Otherwise nobody would use the Diplomacy features.
We got the ship lineups covered. What we really do need are appropriate structures to replace the remaining vanilla sins structures like the extractors, refinery's, culture centers etc. Is Anyone up to the task? If so contact Psychoak.
How will this new DLC affect the mod?
How will this new DLC affect the mod?
*shakes magic eight ball*
'Cannot predict now'
It will either play nice, or die horribly. If it plays nice, I'll utilize it, but nothing goes into the mod that will require people to have DLC to play it.
It will more than likely die horribly. So i am with Psychoak on this one. Nothing gets put in that requires the DLC.
I've followed and played this MOD since 2008 or so when it first came out. This is the only computer game I play and I love it!!! I can't adequately express how much I enjoy playing a good real time strategy game that uses Star Trek ships! The balancing, the tech trees..... it's all great. I've wasted countless hours playing your MOD (to my enjoyment) and I'm here to say thanks for all the hard work!
I've lurked on these forums since I bought Rebellion, shortly after it came out. I finally had to break down and log in to post, because this is one of the highest-quality mods I've ever played. Ever, for any game. It's amazing, and extremely well done.
Thanks for making it, and for porting it to Rebellion (my understanding is that this was a very non-trivial process) so us late-comers to the Sins franchise can enjoy it so much.
Thanks for the support guys, glad you are enjoying it.
Is it me or is the Dominion defenses better balanced? They seem to be more on par with that of the other factions. I remember someone saying earlier in the thread that they felt the Dominion was more of a support faction. They seem to be more even now.
Or maybe I have just gotten better at playing them?
Nothing specific to them has changed, only the overall changes with regards to planetary defense and half-scale.
The AI is too dumb to play the side well, but if you learn how all the synergies work, the side is probably on the overpowered side of things.
hello i just found this mod and would love to get it working,im having a hard time with the installation could anyone help me out,i have unzipped the mod and now am stuck with getting the folder into the steam\ sins rebellion i am a newb when it comes to things like this lol please help your my only hope
There is an install button in the OP that links to a tutorial
there is also an install button on each modDB SoA2 summary page
soa2.soase.x90x.net/Install_Rebellion.html
soa2.soase.x90x.net/Install_Trinity.html
That line only works in the Star Wars mod thread
Can you give an example or two of the synergies you mean for the Dominion? I've been trying out the different races, and the Federation seems to handily overpower any of the others. Between how much staying power their ships have and the tractor beam that they all get, the others just don't seem to have much of a chance. Every game I've played so far, if I'm not playing the Feds, they are the ones who roll me up with little difficulty. The other races seem to give me a good fight, but the Federation just steamrolls.
You're relying too heavily on the elite ships. You're doing so much better with the Federation because they're primarily self contained forces with little support value. The Dominion are support ships.
Jem'Hadar frigates are weak, ineffective ships. They underperform everyone else, even when upgraded with Breen weapons, they're still not worth the cost on their own, but they garner a massive level of stat boosting from the elites.
A high level Leviathan will get you 12% weapon cooldown, 10% chance to hit, 20% angular thrust, and 20% weapon range. Non Jem'Hadar ships only gain 7% weapon cooldown and 10% weapon range. Most of this is from the level 6 ability, Enforced Loyalty is more for the secondary effect of preventing mutiny from Cardassian ships. These are both passives.
A Devastator with Glory To The Founders, also a passive, maxed out will get you 5% weapon cooldown and damage, per nearby Jem'Hadar, to a maximum of 10. Effectively a 50% increase to both weapon cooldown and damage in any decent sized fleet. This is only for Jem'Hadar frigates.
An Enslaver with Victory Is Life does even more, but this one is a a 30 second active. 100% weapon cooldown and damage to Jem'Hadar frigates.
For thirty seconds, a swarm of Jem'Hadar will outperform the Borg. The risk in this is that the Leviathan and Enslaver ultimates both come with a caveat, lose the ship and your Jem'Hadar will suicide.
The Keldon, likewise, is important for overall fleet power, with a 10% weapon cooldown and shield mitigation boost for the fleet, and further Cardassian only improvements.
The trick to becoming a nightmare with the Dominion is getting those high level ships to support the swarm of frigates. To this end, you have a very strong defense.
Your trade ports take 8 logistics, restore shields and antimatter on nearby ships, and are otherwise a major defensive installation with durability and damage on par with a level 1 starbase.
Your weapon platforms, while initially terrible, are easily upgraded by utilizing central powering. Two Will of the Founders, with Power Distribution Networking researched, will give your platforms an extra 2500 shield points, a 40 point restore rate, 1000% plasma torpedo cooldown, 200% energy weapon cooldown, and 40% weapon range. They require large fleets to drop, and are severely damaging.
The Dominion are designed for a slow, exceptionally well defended expansion, building up fortifications and an economy to protect and restore your fleet as you go. You can build a powerful defensive position at the same time you're creating your economic infrastructure.
Above post is re-posted at soa2.soase.x90x.net/dominion.html for future reference.
Thanks psy
Fan made vid
Interesting insight psy.
hello,i seem to still be having trouble installing this mod, i downloaded rebellion off of steam,is the install tutorial correct for steam users or is there something im missing
Awesome, thanks for the rundown. I'm headed straight into game to try the Dominion again. You're right, I was relying on the elites because of how weak the frigates had been when I first tried them.
Using Elites only with any faction (except for the Borg) is a bad idea. Unless you want the "go big, or go home" achievement. In that case play vanilla sins, because in SoA 2 you will get your ass handed to you on a silver platter ![]()
Hi
I would suggest to play this mod with small maps. It makes fun and balance is really nice.
I only wanted to change sovereign class with Galaxy in research, cause sovereign class is the first design also from the history. Is this possible?
What I also don't like is that elites are a little small from design. I really think they could be bigger. It would give also more detail to the ships. They look like support ships from the size.
I don't miss titans. Well done anyway.
Thx for your work.
The Enterprise E is not older than the Enterprise D...
That said, it is possible, quite simple really, just work your way through to the proper research files and switch their entries into each others spots, and fix any prereqs to match.
Thx I will try.
But the first enterprise movies were with sovereign class (capt. kirk, spok etc.). Galaxy class came later in movies at least.
Anyway I would like to play sovereign class first and with more research the Galaxy class.
ROFL, Kirk kicked ass on a Constitution class, that's our scout
