[Mod]Super carrier...Hopefully

 

Ok, I’m new to moding real new like infant new (or at least when I the one doing it the only thing that I have done is mess with stats and ship names) 

So heres what I’ve got planed, I want to and a new unit to each of the races the new unit would be a Super carrier under the curser classification, and it would be researchable in at weapons teck level six 

If possible I want to give it like a capital ship entity (I believe that I read that it was possible)

And have it spawn anti-fight platforms (kind of like the missile platforms that spawned by TEC capital carrier) as its only weapons. And have it start with four strike craft squads  and end with ten or so. And have no armor and little heath. 

 

If it is not possible to give it capital ship entity. Then give it flak weapons. And six strike craft squads  

 

My problems (O how many I have :S )

    One, my modeling skills suck-but I am working on them

    Two, I have no idea how to add stuff to research

    Three, No idea how to add a ship to the curser build slot.

    Four, the whole capital ship entity thing 

 

So any help would be great

hmmmm... newbie here too, but there are lots and lots of cool modders who do a lot of stuff here. Good place to learn.

I can try to see it i can try to do some of what you want to do too, to see if i can help. Dont know though. I'll get back to you on it.

its essentialy really really easy to do. it may sound complicated but it is not. and you cant give a cap ship .entiy to a frig, since they have diffrent values and layouts as far as code go.

having a super carrier with no weapons and no shields, sounds a bit naff if u ask me, id make it have good defenses, a few weapons but not many, and start out with 8 squads maybe?

the platform thins a really good idea though

but hey its your mod u can do what you want

@Stcobalt,  Thanks for the info, and maybe easy for you ( tweaking the stat is, But the Modeling is killing me, that and editing the special ability) 

 

@ Teal your right there is a lot to be learned here. I have been following mods for about seven years (mostly EvillaJedi’s though I never have played it {don’t have H.W.:'( }) and have learned a quite a bit (tough a lot still goes over my head)

 

@milk mclane it not it would have no helth but about half of a  “normal” carrier cap  would have. The theory behind it is that it sacrifices houl integrity  to make room for more strike craft. Ether ways the mass would be so great that it would take for ever to get moving  

 

O and I decided it’s going to be a cap a lot easier for all intensive purposes

lol. well if its a cap the coading part is generaly a LOT easier. yes modeling and texturing is hard, thats why i and several other moders dont bother with it. as far as abilitys go, making defence items buildable therough ships is easy, folow the combat turet for the tec carrier and the seige platform for the vasari bombing cap (forget its name). if your really havign a hard time with it, just drop a PM to me about what you specificaly want for the ability and ill see what i can do,

supose so. i toaught myself how to mod most things, trial and error is the best way to learn in my opinion, well i wish you good luck with your mod. if you got any questions, dont be afraid to send a pm.

will it be easy to add to current mods? i mean to say if you already have a mod installed will you be able to add this to it?

ya you can. moding is all round friendly, in reality, if you got the time, you could merge all existing mods, scam other peoples mods and add it into your own, etc, etc. not saying that its advised unless you are given permission tho.
