Any way to slow settings even more than in-game adjustments?

I know I'm in the minority here, but I would like to slow down research and construction even more than the slowest settings allowed in-game.  (Think 'Marathon' on Civ IV)  Is that something I can mod myself?

Yep.

Search for and change the fleetSupplyData (The other stuff will be near it) values in the gameplay.constants file. Then when you have the options for speed, pirates on/off, etc. before a game, you can change the stuff to your liking.

If your gameplay.constants is in binary (Opens with letters all over the place) download the Forge Tools off of the downloads tab on the site.

Note that Forge Tools has not yet been updated for 1.09. (The 1.1 Beta)

When using Forge to open the file, I get a 'Galaxy forge has a problem and needs to close' message. Is that due to the version imcompatibility you mentioned?

Scratch that...I was able to use Wordpad to open the file. Cool!

If you're using game version 1.09, then yes.
Though I don't see how editing the file manually could present a problem to the game as long as you type everything correctly.
