[MOD] Sins of a Galatic Empire



This is the current beta version of EvilleJedi's star wars mod. I figured I'd create a new thread since Eville said he'd do it but still hasn't done it lol.

awesome looking models! way overpowered though easy enough to fix but I like the look and feel!ds


I believe in the final version the Star Wars factions won't be able to fight sins factions.

Well, the vanilla factions can always play the role of "independent systems militia"... you know, something for Imperials to stomp on while they are waiting for the Rebels to show up. ;)

Thomas, I believe that with the new version of Forge tools (specifically, the txt/bin encoder) you can also decode from binary back into text, so tinker all you like... no mod is safe any more. :p

I like it new ships are great, but wow op. I fell asleep playing. Just 6 ships killed or ran off everything that came after me.I woke up with 390,800 credits. Maybe a game Empire versus Empire will work.

ya, I didn't like how the Empire was overpowered nor did I like the massive gravity wells(it took my constructors 5 minutes to get from the newly built factory to the asteroids!).

The Empire is overpowered, one Star Destroyer kill all... The massive gravity wells cause an 3 D problem. I have problems to access the fleet or to construct orbital buildings because the gravity well is to big...
But the models and sounds are very good.

ya, the models were great, at least some of them. I was getting what has been dubbed the black ship syndrome with some of the ships and all of the new structures and its really getting me POed X-( . Love the sound effects though :D . I'm getting some bugs: some ships refuse to auto-attack, with auto-attack on and the TIE's are acting funky. Its perty fun, the only thing that pulled me away to write this was a mini-dump.

First of all, thank you for all the hard work you've put into this mod so far. I just have a few complaints:

- Where is my Death Star? The Empire needs a superweapon because it is part of their whole "rule through fear" philosophy. Maybe you make the Galaxy Gun, all it did was shoot a hyperspace missile. It's similar to the Novalith.

- The Rebel ships need to be as powerful as their imperial counterparts, or they will get owned.

- The size of the gravity wells is an issue. I understand we need bigger ones for moving our larger ships, but not only does it take forever for constructors to get from end to another, but it also screws up the zoom.

Besides these, the mod is awesome and I look forward toward its completion.

Loved it over the weekend, I did a little file exploring and decided to add the Nebulon B's to the Empire's fleet compliment (I'm assuming they were meant for the rebels, but I wanted to play them, since all the files were there)

I looked closely at the Nebulon and Star Destroyer Meshes, expecting to find a little Millennium Falcon attached in the appropriate place, but there wasn't one (unless I looked in the wrong place, Han Solo like to park that bucket in the least likely places)...

I thought that a couple ships should have Tie-Interceptors instead of regular TIE fighters, and maybe a deathstar with a Vader TIE that comes out of it would be nice :)

Weren't there TIE fighters with three evenly-spaced pointy wings in something I saw a while back...

got it, played it, loved it.


Pros:
-the models were perfect, right to gunships.
-SFX was top notch!
-can't think of anything else

Cons:
-ships little too powerfull
-couldn't tell what ship could colonized
-ships too expensive
-ship icons needed

The ships were a bit over powerd so i only used one ship at a time each battle and it dose get interesting but on the death star note i think it would not work well in this game because it was 100 times bigger than the super D instead they should have one of 3 things as the super weapon for the empire 1 the galaxy gun metion by captaink230 or a massive lasser cannon orbiting one of your planet (you can only have one any where to make it far) that can (not distoy the plant) kill everything on or around that planet because you do not whant to kill the planet like in the movies what would happen if you shot the star (shot, look at that prety color) ether one of two things, one the game crashes or two you will see a muiti color effect on your screen.

This would not be fare with distorying planets and stars but you whant to still use that planet to live on what a sec i got an idea have it when the planet is his whith this weapon turn it in to a volcanic planet it will be good.

And the final of the three have the Eclisp SD (sorry spelling sucks) but keep it the same size as the super D becasue it would be the size of Mount Everset. Also on that note the weapon arry to strike a planet 2 planets away with a shock wave distroying, disabling or damanging ships in the same distance closser you are the more screwd you are.
The rebelion special weapon should be a massive Ion Cannon arry that can disable everything in a planets sector even the refinerys for at least 2 min.

needs to be more balince with the empires special weapon but it is the empire

An Eclipse SSD would be excellent for the Empire. Of course, its siege would result in the planet's immediate destruction, rendering it neutral. The Eclipse has that massive superlaser on its front end that, canonically, allows it to penetrate a planet's crust allowing the mantle to seep out onto the surface and wipe everything out, causing the planet to be rendered uninhabitable ad infinitum. Also, it can target capital ships, wiping them out in a single shot. I was thinking this could be a Level 6 ability, and has huge cooldown and anti-matter costs. Its name could be Advanced Targeting Algorithms or something similar. But about the superlaser and sieging, it would only do massive damage to the planet, allowing a colonizer to come in and take it over. And it would have to do around 9,000 bombardment damage to do so, when you factor in the Emergency Facilities planet development.
