Please double cap-crew max!!! :(

Concerning space battles - there are two main types of play styles / commander...

Those who build fleets of lots of small ships etc i.e. giving the enemy lots of low-value low damage targets...

and those who favour heavier ships - hi-value, hi-damage yet more durable capital ships...

 

AS it stands now large fleets of smaller vessels is obtainable yet this can not be said to be true for players who favour cap-ships especially over larger maps where cap-ships soon get spread out :(

Prior to 1.04 a developer said the cap ship limit was on the board to be increased (hoping doubled ;p ) so heres hoping it'l make 1.1 along with starbases ;p

I'd prefer not to double the capship size, actually. At least within the single-player game. Managing a fleet of a dozen capital ships is about as complex as I'd like to see the game get.

It wouldn't hurt to have the option of extra cap-ships thou?? if you don't wan the extra cap-ships you got the choice to bolster your forces with smaller vessels..

If you like micro and cap-ship leveling you can get enough crews to stick with just caps ;p

as it stands - there no need to build cap-ships at all - you can just stick to frigs and cruisers but you can't stick to just caps because of the crew limit :(

I'd like to hear some of the better MP players' opinion of how well this strategy works. I'd suggest a couple complementary mid-to-high-levelled capital ships with a supporting fleet of frigates/cruisers is more powerful than that same fleet would be if the extra 100 supply and 600 resources went towards 14 more frigates or cruisers instead. They'll likely get creamed at level 1 if the other player uses intelligent focus firing, but give the capships some power-ups and the other guys will be in for some trouble.

It would also be interesting to see the collision between a ten capital ship fleet versus a two-ship fleet with 400 supply/24,000 credit's worth of supporting frigates and cruisers in the hands of two capable players, and again versus a 500 supply/30,000 credit frigate/cruiser fleet.

I'd say that this is more a function of how bloody expensive they can be (including the pricey higher-tier logistics upgrades) rather than their cap of 16. 16 cap ships, especially on the Advent side, will mow through pretty much anything. They just don't come out in force in multiplayer games because it's tough to amass 3000 + resources when you're trying to keep the pressure on an opponent.

This strikes me more as mod material. There's no real need to make the cap higher than what's available. Fleets aren't supposed to consist entirely of capital ships anyway.

I agree this is something that would rather be better modded or added as a option. It might tend to buff the Cap-ship playstyle too much.

I disgree in part, I dont think the total limit for cap ships should be increased, I think the cost of both cap ships and capital ship research should be reduced.

I would also like the upgrades to be standard +2 cap ships an upgrade rather then 1 1 2 4 6 or howevfer it currently goes.

fact is currently max no cap carrier group and blow apart any cap ship fleet even carrier caps.


I think main battleship and planet assault caps should get range increase per level up of say 5%

I also agree in part..I think it would be ok for a game option....maybe they should make capital ships even better stats-wise first.

I dont think caps should really be stronger in general(just the combat centers caps are currently at a disadvantage in any battle because they get focused fired to death and they dont have much more hitpoints then specialist caps which can stay out of battle and still be effective.


Maybe make them the speed of normal ships.. after all they are front line assault ships so one would assume there got speed to spare.. chasing down specislist caps etc
