Out ring of gravity well?

Hi, im just wondering if its possible to edit the size of the outer ring (where you cant build) of the gravity well in your own maps i.e opening the .galaxy file with notepad and adding a string? Or has this got to be done as a mod?

Thanks in advance.

In the various Planet*.entity files, these variables control the size of the gravity wells:

moveAreaRadius 40000.000000 (outer ring)
hyperspaceExitRadius 30000.000000 (inner ring)

In the Gameplay.constants file, these variables control the build 'ring' relatively to the planet surface on the nearPlacement, and relatively to the planet's hyperspaceExitRadius on the farPlacement:

nearPlacementDistOffset 0
farPlacementDistOffset 9000
placementRadiusOffset 100

Brill thanks.

So my my other question is can this be bundled up with a map instead of a mod?

Sadly no. The maps contain no information about gravity wells.

Somewhat related, I once saw a guy flying his ships out past where you can normally go in a grav well. We're talking halfway between the one planet and another. When you zoom out and check the bar next to the planet it still says the ships are near it but they arn't actually there. This guy had only done it with 2 or 3 ships, but they were carriers and the fighters would keep trying to fly back in and attack my ships...

I asked him how he did it multiple times but he refused to answer, in fact he just continued on as if he hadn't heard me.

Hi thanks for the help guys. Got it working and its great. Ill release if there enough demand. What ive done is made it so you can basicaly travel anywhere in space even fly to other planets without warp ect. You could even wait around near an enemy planet and send a scout in and if you see his fleet travel elsewhere then you can just fly in and make a mess of his planet :)

Theres a few tweaks i want to do atm.
