winning via satellite

Is it possible to win actually win by dominating culture?? because every time i try it it never works. i have tried it multiple times online. Using advent, since they seem to be the 'culture' race, maxing out just about every plaent i get with culture stations, even using multiple deliverance designs, againced a weaker opponent. it just doesnt seem to work. he eventually came at me with a fleet and took me out (a pretty weak one i might add, but i spent all my money on culture stuffs). even though my culture cannons got a few hits on his planets. Is it possible to win actually win by dominating culture??

Yes.

You will however, have to remove or negate his culture spreading devices. And if you fail to sieze the planet after it rebels, he will just re-settle it later. What I'm saying is: you will still have to take some military and economic action, but yes, culture can be your most potent weapon.

Sometimes you may have to place capital ships in enemy orbits, even if you do not engage with them, they help repel and spread culture.

No single approach works in SoaSE, you have to combine everything at some level. There is one thing I am uncertain of, however. I am not sure if you can cause a homeworld to rebel via culture, it's possible that you will have to claim the last system militarily. Every other world with certainty, however, can fall to culture.

Flip enough worlds and the AI may actually simply surrender.

Homeworlds will rebel due to culture.

I had a game on a crappy random map which had a single chokepoint dividing me from the other half of the system, and the only way I could win (instead of continuing to feed ships into the meatgrinder) was to use the Deliverance Engine to wipe out every world past the roadblock.

It worked.

Wait, the DE actually worked?

That's...

...IMPOSSIBLE!

j/k.

If Timed Explosives actually worked (is it just me or do they never go off?) and did enough damage, I'd say that waves of suicide Arcova Scouts might do the trick by sniping out their culture centers if you were TEC. :)

On the other hand you could try using the Seeker's suicide attack, which would be even more ironic.

Don't knock it...

Watch 10 Seeker Vessels 'Martyr' themselves against a high level capital ship that just got it's shields knocked down.

For 2000 credits spent, you get get a nice guarantee that a vessel that cost 3,000 creds, + experience gain (or purchase!), and bucket full of resources, will die...

You come out quite a bit ahead of the game for the loss of some crazy jihadis and pocket change.
