Why are the last 4 Capital ship icon spaces locked out to adding more?

This I don't understand. 

 

 You can add planetary files.  You can add more frigates, more cruisers, more anything except cap ships?@?#!?  There are 9 spots on all selection menus @ the bottom bar, and they are ALL usable on every menu, except for the last 4 spots on the capital ship menu.

I have figured out how to change these out, use other ship files,(Vasari, Advent) move the icons all around upside down and backwards, and while I have not done it yet, I belieive I have figured out how to add layers to menu selection so that they are 3, 4 deep.  

 

 But nomatter how or what I do....building cap ships seems to be locked at 5 when there are 9 spaces. 

 

 Why?

 

Or am I just doing something wrong?

Golden question.. we don't know why, it's just how the UI is set up and nobody's figured out a way around it. Not exactly logical, but we'll see what we can do once we have more than just text conversions to play with :P At least, hopefully we'll get more :)

As clarification: cruisers overflow to the second UI row naturally? I haven't personally tried.

They do, but right now of course you can't add a third page.

Also, ships using the "CapitalShip" entity, even if not capital ships, must be in the cap factory. So if you want to give frigates or cruisers XP, you're sort of sunk atm.

If there's one thing I really, really hope to see in the final tools it's the ability to define our own entityTypes. That would solve 90% of all the issues we're having :P

Yes, Cruisers, Frigates, and structures can be manipulated currently.


For your personal clarification...goto player.xxxx file and edit cap/frigate/cruiser/structure ship section (don't forget to increase/decrease"count"  :) )

I've had one line with all Kol ships, a line with a mixture of Vasari, Advent, and TEC ships...but thats it, just ONE line (except in the case of the other menus....)

@Asmodai: Yeah, I knew frigates/structures, but I never tried cruisers personally so I wasn't sure if it shared the same settings as page 1 (frigates) and filled the UI to the max or not :)

You forgot to put Strike Craft(fighters/bombers) in with the list. So you can only have 5 cap ship and 2 strike Craft.

That too. I noted all of these in the 1.03 patch thread (the concise one where you post changes, not the 1000+ post one). If the devs want to claim this game to be moddable, there has to be some moddability!
