Game slowdown/Tactics/Defence + other stuff

Hi,

My new Mod now have been approved. I have great enjoy of it. I thought maybe others could use it and have fun of it too, so therefore I have uploaded it.

I will improved this mod if I find something their has be fixed. I will of cause write a build history to follow width changes. This history will only in the future be found in this tread, because it’s mush easier than on the mod site. I will delete history on mod site on next update and only state where info for the mod can be found – of cause here :) And only also how to install it will be left.

NOTE: If you can't download the file then it's probably because I made a new version and uploaded it. Just look back later, could take sometime before my mod is approved and released for downloading.

History:

Redion-MOD v1.00 / Sins v1.02 Build 11.02.2008

- Pirates first attack now 2 hours, after first attack 1 hour
(Watch countdown can only show max 60 min. When first 60 min are counted then it starts over width next 60 min. Progress bar shows correct)

- Rebel 1 attacks, now between 90-120 minutes
- Rebel 2 attacks, now between 60-90 minutes

- Game setting "Slow" now 200 times slower than standard normal Sins v1.02 game speed
- Game setting "Normal" now 75 times faster than new "slow" speed
- Game setting "Fast" now 150 times faster than new "slow" speed

(New "fast" still 50 times slower than original standard Sins v1.02 game speed. NOTE: Slow is really extremely slow!)

New game speed includes:
- Income rate
- Build time
- Module build time
- Ship max speed and Acceleration/Deceleration speed
- Quest Complete Happiness
- Culture range speed

- Research time

(Research time is of cause bound to Research speed button - but Slow, Normal and Fast are each balanced to Slow, Normal and Fast in game speeds)

- Planet time development increased. Same for all game speeds (Slow, Normal and Fast)
Level 1. 120 seconds
Level 2. + 50%
Level 3. + 100%
Level 4. + 150%

- Gauss Defence/Beam Defence/Missile Defence, 100% damage increase and 50% range increase
- Phase Jump Inhibitor, 15% range increase and 350% effect increase



Redion-MOD v1.01 /Sins v1.02 Build 13.02.2008

- Base Hyperspace Speed, 100% Increase
(Now you actual can see ship icon moves in hyperspace on game speed slow ;) )

- Chance to hit Fighters, 15% increase
- Chance to hit Bombers, 10% increase

(I find them too powerful when things are slowed down. Was actually in v1.00 – but now slightly more - so you already have lived with it - my apologies that I forgot it in history for v1.00)

- Construction bar color changed to red for better visibility
(At last I’ve found where to change :) )

Redion-MOD v1.02 /Sins v1.02 Build 15.02.2008

- Quest time to complete increase (game speed slow, normal and fast). Now between 30-60 minutes. Depends of type of quest.
- Time between treaties offers increase (game speed slow, normal and fast). Now 60 minutes
- Time between quests increase (game speed slow, normal and fast). Now 45 minutes

(On fast and normal game speeds you shouldn’t have big trouble in reach the quest. More difficult on slow. Of cause if you have map width long hyper legs it could be pretty difficult - but that it was also before my mod. Now times suites Sins when slowed down.)

- Black Market price decay rate decreased considerably. Begin Decay time increase to 1 minute
(Now market functioning mush more like a real market. Have tested on normal game speed. AI still buying when in need so I saw real price fluxionary behavior, and sometime it could easy take about 10 minutes before prices stabilized).

- All updated for Sins version 1.03
(NOTE: speed settings "fast" still 50 times slower than original standard Sins v1.03 game speed fast.)

NOTE: We still do not have all "Reference Data" files in clear text. But it seems the important files I had to make changes to all was in clear text. For the rest I assuming no changes had to be made, so for these files I just overwrite the binary files with my old files. I have tested for some time now and it seems functioning correct – BUT please tell if you find some errors, then I have to wait for all "Reference Data" files in clear text before I can make new updates.

Okay will try it at the fastest setting, so it is still slower than the slow from original 1.03
Mod isn't downloadable at the moment, how long will I have to wait ?

PS: Tried Solar Empire with original slow settings, still a "WHO KLICKS FASTER" game without thinking.

Just have seen you answered my question ... no everything was on FAST and after 11Hours play I have destroyed all AI players , but only have researched 10% of all things. But now with 1.03, someone could research at all 3 fields at the same time ... so research time now 30% faster, good for your mod TERRIBLE FOR THE ORIGINAL slow game, already after 60minutes more than 20% researched ... so the key for a balanced game seems to be how fast could everything researched that is the maximum time an intresting game could last, after this time game could get more and more boring.

Seems to work fine and very simple without need of register, just tried it with the 1.03 file myself.

This sounds like something I would enjoy. All my tweaks are to slow things down or cap ships at about 200 or so. I will try it as soon as it is available for download again.

Hi Redion, please use another Free Filehosting ALSO it is still not up for download .. that original game speed makes me crazy and already feel like have to ki.. someone :-)))

okay changed now the slow settings to my own VERY SLOW (around 5 times slower/rarer than original slow, remember you could always use increase/decrease/pause with SP Games)

Gameplay.constants

Just replace your original "gameplay.constants" in your SinsOfASolarEmpire\GameInfo folder.
Make a backup of your original file, if you don't like the settings.
It replaces the SLOW Settings with VERY SLOW ... have fun

I’m pleased you find my mod useful. Damn you fast even on my slowdown mod ;) 11 hours you say, that’s pretty fast with my mod. Normal my games last a couple of days+ (I also play on my fast setting, Normal and Slow is for ppl who like it more extreme :) ). You play small maps I guess! Anyway when you finish your game in about 11 hours you should not be able to do and finish mush research, that was my idea – we now really have to think what we will research to maybe get the upper hand. This also what you like if I hear you right. My goal was slowing research way down because it’s not a goal in it self (for me anyway) have researched all the way down the tech-tree, but researched the right way down the tree :)

I can assure you that research speeds are even slowed to suit income, build and resource gathering speeds. But I could maybe change speed setting Fast as it is now to my mod Normal speed - Normal goes to Slow speed and then make a new faster setting for Fast. But remember income, build and resource gathering speeds also have to increase then. I could maybe make a new fast about 25 times faster than my mod Fast is at the moment.
I could also make two Zip archives under Redion-Mod with different speed settings to chose from. Then you unpack Redion-Mod v1.03 Zip file (of cause under Sins mod folder) and you see standard folders but also a new Zip archive – i.e. like this: Redion-Mod v1.03 Speed+. If you want it faster then you just unpack this I might do this next time I have a update for uploading, if you like?

Lastly, thanks for the upload site address. I will use this at least in the time when the mod not ready for downloading. But it seems it’s now been approved, so next time :)

Hi TEKEL59,

Hope you will enjoy it as mush I do. I will maybe look into this about cap size. We have +-25% from standard normal cap size to choose from in Sins v1.03. I might increase values here – i.e. +-75 or 100% from normal. Normal will still be Sins v1.03 cap size.

I also working on increased Hangar squadron size to:
Tech = 4
Phase = 4
Psi = 5

And for cap carrier ships (same for all races):
Start squadrons = 3
Squadron increase on new level = 1

I have played with this and I like it. Now carriers also useful and a capital ship I thinking on when I want building a new cap.

Hangar defense now more potent and I don’t have to “plaster” a system with hangars ;)

Please give me some response if this something people would like to see next in a future update?

Okay new Version (fewer Pirates respawn and longer Quest times) ... as Pirates and Quest are not affected with the settings they are too powerfull (Pirates) and Questtime too short ... but now it affects also NORMAL and FAST Setting.

aah just have seen you answered ... so will try the LINK ... for sure better as mine, but with mine it is easy to use it with different MODS :-) as the GLOBAL SETTINGS direct from the core game are changed.

Na I played that HUGE PREMADE MAP for 10 players and finished it aftre 11 hours :-)

Yes I also like more to THINK first what to research and where to use the resources, what to build first and what later, so that every decision has an impact of the outcome of the game. THE ORIGINAL GAME IS A JOKE, it is who klicks faster ... even I win them also , but it is terrible boring ...

I do not quite follow you m8?!? If I get you correct so you want even longer times for Quest as it is at the moment? Quest times in my mod already have been increased.

For my concern I could completely remove all trace from pirates - I never play with pirates active anyway. I just kept them in my community mod for those who still want pirates. Maybe pirates too powerful as you say, but you have 2 hours before first attack so you do have some build time before you might be the one who been attacked - I will look into this issue and get back to you on a later time.

... but now it affects also NORMAL and FAST Setting.

What do you mean by this?!?

tried to merge your mod with some others, first it seems I succeded but after 10hours of play ... game got out of control. As I used often that INCREASE/DECREASE/PAUSE Function, I felt somehow, after saving that game, when I reloaded it, it was faster and now it seems it is fast as the original SLOW game :-) that damn ships are popping out like flies, and I even haven't conquered 25% ...

Okay as you know, what you have changed in your mod, could you imagine to combine yours with some of the others ? Special Graphics/Sound/Planets Mods ... and I will continue to play with your mod and tell you what me disturbes.

Everything should focused on the largest possible map :-) (damn I already have million credits and resources I couldn't use)

Everything should cost a lot more ... so that I have to think what and where to improve. Destroyed planets should need years to make them habitable again. And ships also ...

And maybe you have found that value "SECONDS" -> "sec" and you could change it to "DAY" , that we have a feeling for how long should something needed to build/develop/fly somewhere ... so from Earth to Mars -> 7 Years = 2556 days ...
so if I start from one planet (earth) and travel to another "CLOSE" one I should need 2556 "sec" ...

The more I think about the game, the more I find out, it isn't what I am looking for, as I am already bored after 1 1/2 game as it is the same ... okay need a space (game) SIMULATOR not a RTS(too simple) or RB(better but also) one.

Okay will give feedback, what disturbs me at most

This is properly because you have overwritten important files in my MOD with another MOD’s files that don’t have included slowdown values.

(standard = 29500, change it to something like 9500 or lower and you get your days ;) )
hyperspaceSpeedBetweenStarsMultiplier 24.0
(24 is standard. This multiplying baseHyperspaceSpeed value with 24, lower this and you get the “years” between stars ;) )

I have made my own background music from other games that I like better. I would have given these files to you and others if not it would conflict with license regulations. Try read my tread here: WWW Link, go to section "Workaround – own background music" here I have tried making a guide in how you change sound files with you own files.

I can’t help you with this about seconds to days. Maybe somebody else can help here :)

Redion-Mod v1.03 still useable with Sins v1.04. Only Black Market behavior different a little. I see no need to update unless many want it of cause.

Hey Redion - first up - your mod made Sins wonderful and playable. Stock game speed just isn't the kind of Sins I want to play. Your mod made it a different and better game.

But now, alas, 1.05 or higher kills it. I've tried rolling back to 1.04, just doesn't work.

Any chance you could update?

Or - tell me what I need to do to restore the game speeds to slooow? I did look at the files you posted above, but buggered if I can figure out what to change.

I'd be eternally grateful if you - or anyone - can sort me out here.

Or alternatively, if anyone could tell me how to effectively roll back to 1.4 that'd be just as good. Did try installing the 1.4 patch over 1.5 (silly and optimistic, I know), but of course while the splash screen reports 1.4, the Redion mod doesn't work.

Help please! :)

I believe if you want to rollback to 1.04 you'll have to uninstall/reinstall and then use the 1.04 standalone patch.
