can you build more construction ships?

i swear that the first time i went through the tutorials it said that you could, and how you could build more construction ships after the automatic ones. but, now i can't figure out or remember how, and i can't find the part i thought i found it in the tutorials.

am i right in thinking you can build more construction ships or not?

if so, how?

ok, so just upgrading slots spawns more?

i thought maybe it was a combo of upgrading/research and building at the factory but that sounds familar.

just planet upgrades, 1 per planet upgrade, so Terran level 4 worlds get 4 constructor ships.

What happens to them when they're destroyed, then? Do they just respawn after a certain amount of time? I'm guessing that's the case, as I don't think I've ever lost the ability to construct around planets...
