Adding playable races

Posible now?

Just wanted to ask if it is possible with the code now to add another playable fleet/race. If so, anyone know how?

has always been possible, just copy over the current race you want (tec or vaz) and then edit the code as you see fit

Check out the Battlefleet Gothic mod thread, I think there's a description there. If not, just ask the guy who started the thread, because he has it working.

well i have a start of one i am still working on getting the starting stuff to show up but its a start all the stuff you need is in the *race*_player.entity i think somthing like that maby its player_race duno il check later

that file has all the build lists research lists ... eaverything to do with the race is in there im still investigeating it so il probbly post more latter but if you need any help maby we can work it out together feel free to contact me via msn or some such device

Yes, though model importation is a little iffy at the moment.

If I had to guess I'd say its a texture file (the buttons and stuff are. You need photoshop to edit them)

um no its in the string file in the string folder
and yes completley new ships are possible (see my posts in the bfg thread with the desolator)it should be in the player files and you just put a new unit in the list or thats how it should go but its not currently working for me.As i said everything you nead for a new race is in that file so when you make a new ship just put it on the build lists and it should bop up in the structure

model importation is fine its just the emmiters that aren't
any chance of telling us what you are planing admiral?

p.s. i cant beleave i am the person who ,besides the devs, seams to know the most about this...

@ spartan as soon as i can fix those damn emmiters
@admral well atm im using notepad++ so i just use ctrl f and search for what i want the string names are rather uniform just look for what you think it should be called also the actual name is under it so you can also search for what it was /is called

ok, so can you just copy the folder for a race, just say it's the TEC, and then copy the modded stuff over the copy? because then you could have more than 3 races in one match. so is that what you do? and where are all the files for the races?

so it's easy to track..

to start the constuction edit PlayerVor.Entity from their just follow the path.

For those of you who have figured out the custom race thing, does your custom race show up as a 4th, 5th, etc. race or does it replace one of the existing races (TEC, Advent, Vasari)?

I've been thinking about ideas for mods and may actually start one following the release of 1.03. I've been so wrapped up in building a cross platform game I just haven't gotten around to poking around in Sins' files yet.

:( i don't have winrar so i cant extract it. if i did then i'd love to use your race. i want to use the pirate mod i just downloaded so i can play as pirates. the zip file has 2 folders in it, the gameinfo folder and the string folder, should i just put the files from there into the gameinfo and string folders in sins of a solar empire?
