And so it begins... (Model Importing)

Thanks to Code Herder we can now import models into the game! :D

My 1st Star Trek mod test model import results.. As you can see there are some very bad mesh errors i need to fix (my fault, not the importers fault). But everything works. Hard points, CL, DA, and NM textures work. (no, this ship is NOT going to be in the cobalt slot in the future. It is a cap ship)

Much work to be done, but this is just the beginning :D

very awesome. Who did the model and texture?

Me. This model i made back in 2003 for a Nexus mod that never happened. It has found its way into other games, but i think it is perfect for Sins.

The normal map worked? ... Cool, I was already gearing myself up mentally to find out what the problem was. I wasn't sure it wasn't working to begin with anyway.

I really cant tell on this model if the normal maps work, or not due to the mesh errors, and the fact this ship doesnt use much bump mapping. The DA's definetly work. The errors are every texture seems vertice got unwelded. Causing some major smoothing errors. It is wierd it is almost as if my mesh was turned inside out. The light is shining in the opposite direction of the light source. lighting the backfaces.

I am going to experiment importing using .obj, and .3ds this test model was imported from "x" format. I want to make sure if these mesh errors are my fault or if the importer is messing something up.

Wow! Very impressive. I can't help but notice how much better your image looks than the first screenshot from the upcoming startrek online game :) Isn't the model detail supposed to be signifigantly better on MMORPGs than on RTSs? Sigh.
