Now, it's possible Brad, FF, and PR3 think differently - but this is why I'm curious as to just what the motivation was. We know why they're not using those aliens in SC:O's story mode, but it's guesswork at this point as to why we're not seeing them in Fleet Battles.
The short version is that Fred and Paul intended to one day (and that day has arrived) return to the Ur-Quan universe. We didn't want to try to sew

I'm really loving these broad strokes. However, my brain is very small (probably a head injury I don't recall) so I tend to deal better with concrete examples. Can you come up with a few specific examples you have in mind?
Some initial feedback having played all the previous Star Controls plus Ur Quan Masters: - Please have a LAN option for multiplayer melee (used this all the time with the kids) - Introduce a random ship selector during battle - Create ship names with personality. In SC2, we had the Chmmr Avatar, Supox Blade and Spathi Eluder to name just a few. In this beta, we have the Menkmack Ship, Trandals Ship a
We were talking about the Phamysht exchanging members of their own species to be food, and I proposed the idea that their species might be caste based (like ants etc) and that there could be a special caste who are purely bred to be eaten.
This is pretty much how the Phamyst are and one of the issues the player runs into with them. They don't understand why you don't just send someone over as part of the ritual. Are you just rude?

Okay I really need to find that Google doc. Anyone have a copy of that and want to post it? There's some really good ideas here. I'll try to add some of them.

This is definitely an area that is going to require a lot of work over the next several months to nail down. The mounts matter because we have to be able to control where front and back of your ship is. For instance, if you want a ship to have a butt missile or something, the mount needs to be in back. But the whole thing is still a little,a syou say, hard to deal with. If others would like to chime in here on what changes they'd like to see, please do so.

The gravity stuff is coming along nicely. I have a strategy with the Mowlings where I go into orbit of the planet and just wreak havoc. Unfortunately, my horrible coworkers agreed that beam weapons shouldn't be able to shoot through the planets anymore and changed it. They're dead now.

The answer is yes. This is one of the benefits of making a game in a 64-bit, multicore engine. Everything in the game can change anything else. Now, most things won't have any affect. But let me give you one of the examples: There's an ambassador you run into as a side-mission that if you help, can change a bunch of other side-quests in the game. When the quest editor is made available, you will see what we mean in that every quest can actuall

Full game is the usual "when it is done". We're not in any hurry. This must be done right.

Great stuff. I will do my best (which is admittedly meager) to answer these. 1) Please tell me you're not ditching the animated character portraits for ship combat. Not only are they fun and quirky, but they add to the UI by letting you know that yes indeed your passive defense (like the earthling PD Laser) is working, or that yes I do see you're slamming the fire button but sadly you don't have enough energy. They also gave you a heads up on what was going on

While the concept of Jeff and the Mowlings came up before we read these books, we really enjoy the Bobiverse books. Probably the best series I've read in the past couple years.

This looks pretty interesting. So one of the things we probably need to make sure others understand: The Star Control universe in Origins is roughly the same size as you saw in the classic series. But that's only a tiny part of the Milky way galaxy. The image here is a pretty
If I'm not mistaken, the original Star Control games Stardock was selling were just removed from Steam. Is that an admission by Stardock that Paul and Fred were right that Stardock did not have the rights to the Star Control games?
No, it's an admission that Paul and Fred's lawyers are sending threatening letters. We are talking to Steam and GOG.

Basically, what is happening is that something will advertise its base mass but what it actually uses applies all the various bonuses you have. What I think the UI should do is update the advertised mass to be what it will actually use and then put into a tooltip what it would have orignally consumed without your tech.
OK, I've been on vacation away from a computer for 8 months now. Whee! Now, I'm back, and of course GC3 is completely different than when I left it in Dec 2016. I'm just restarting my learning curve of figuring out all the stuff, and that includes the completely different way the empire management has been redone. I'll use this thread for some help on different issues, if you please. [e digicons]:)[/e] I'm a founder, so I'm p
Lower populations, and then I have to build 4 farms in order to build one city? Seriously? What, exactly, do you guys think the term "game balance" means?
Two things: Higher quality farms produce more. Adjacency bonuses produce more. Population now = 1 production point. Before, it was the square root. Before: Population of 9 = 3 production points. Now: Population of 9 = 9 produc
It's heartening to see it's being worked on. I've liked that about the whole Galciv series all along. It increases the replay value, when it's a new game very couple months. I just hope the market is fair about that--I hate to see the market mothball a title right when it comes of age.
GalCiv III continues to sell very well. It is the most popular space-based TBS on the market.
