Galciv II on linux and standalone installer?

Hi folks, I'm an old-time stardock user who has gotten fed up with windows and has now switched completely to Linux. I'd like to try out GalCiv2 (since I was so impressed with the original), but of course the SDCentral installer doesn't work with cedega. Will there be a standalone installer I can download for GalCiv2 to try running it in cedega? (I don't want to buy the CD since I already have a full totalgaming subscription)

thanks,
Marko

I asked one of the managers and he said that at some point when Gal Civ 2 is released you should be able to get an ISO of the CD, but there's nothing in place right now and the beta will only ever be available through SDC.

Any updates on that info? I think we can safely consider GalCiv II to be released.

You can buy a disc at retail, or order one. However I'm not aware of anyone successfully running GC2 under linux and having it stable enough to really play as yet.

If I recall correctly, GalCiv 2 should run even on windows 98. If you are willing to deal with windows again you might be able to test if the free demo works with whatever version of windows you have.

Its unlikely that stardock will be able to support Linux any time soon. They're a still a small company at this time, fixing crashes on windows and providing new content takes up a lot of resources, let alone what it takes to continue to develop new games.

Anyhow, best of luck...
