Late Game Issues are a serious roadblock

I hope you manage to fix the late game issues that center around movement discrepancies, autosaves, minor races and map artifacts like planet banners which hide everything behind them. I would rather see nongraphical improvements like game mechanics, accurate status displays, and resolving movement issues that degrade game play. Honestly graphics are the least important to me because I play zoomed out so everything looks like symbology. It takes me 4 to 6 hours a move at late game because of unresolved issues - most of which revolve around automatic End Of Turn executing prematurely. There are all kinds of problems with the game's proportional movement scheme at late game which interact synergistically with other problems - primarily automatic End Of Turn. I typically play on the largest map size with 6 or so civs at godlike. This allows enough time for these issues to manifest. My goal is a 1000 turn game but currently the game chunks so bad it becomes almost unplayable after 100 turns. I have 16 cores, 128 GB RAM and a 2TB SSD. I play at 3840 x 2160 144Hz native.

I like how my Economic and Military starbases can now mine. It reduces the number required. The game would probably benefit from only having a single starbase that combines Communication, Economic, Mining, and Military as added modules. I also think each module should add 10 hitpoints to the starbase. That makes the starbase bigger than the largest ship and shipyards should be combinable with a starbase - no constructors. (Just shipyards that are upgraded to starbases.) Pretty graphics is all well and good but I would prefer an AI that learns from playing me and gets harder to beat with more play throughs. Just saying. Obviously you do what you want. Just my thoughts.

4 to 6 hours per turn.  Really?  I seriously doubt that.  #1, what version are you playing. #2, Automatic end of turn is an issue that we've all complained about, but how does that impact the length of your turns other than cutting them shorter than you'd like?  #3, I'm playing 1.60.457293 and at turn 367 there is no slow down at all, my game setup is almost identical to yours and my rig isn't as good.  If you're having issues with lag at 100 turns try posting a saved game for the Dev's  to look at maybe they'll see something going on that's causing it.

I really haven't run into these problems. Enabling Fast Move is the only thing I might do later in the game.

Your system is about twice as good as mine and my laptop handles the game quite well. It really doesn't have anything to do with the graphics. Some tips.

- since your running 4k you don't need anti-aliasing (AA)

- disable VSync

- if your playing the largest map size with only 6 civs and getting to turn 1000 your really asking for it because it means your not reducing the AI's fleets. Play how you want but if your doing nothing but turtling your going to have to sit through the AI pathing for all of their fleets. Fast Move does help this.

- enable fast move this speeds up the turn times a lot.

- use rally points to get around. Set a rally point then use goto command and order ships to automatically send ships to the rally points.

- For icons hiding behind banners you just need to adjust your camera angle.

For the most part many of these things can be remedied.
