Hi all,
I've been away from the game for a while as I didn't like the way some of the updates changed the game. I'm trying the game again with the latest DLC as I like the Drath, but I've come against the same problem as before:
Weapons, good ones especially, require resources.
I used to like designing my own ships and putting lots of weapons on them. Now I'm really constricted and confused about weapons particularly in the start of the game when resources are scarce. I'm constricted because I can't use the weapons I want .The basic one not needing resources is not good enough and too heavy. Then I don't have enough resources for good weapons.
I'm confused because it doesn't feel fun anymore. Was this done to reduce the number of ships in the map? I feel shepherded towards a particular style of play that I don't like: expanding just to claim resources. I like to turtle in and build large powerful ships. Now I can't stuff a large hull with tons of disruptors as I don't have enough elerium. Or maybe I can only build one instead of five.
It also reduces the uniqueness of each race as I can't see enough fleets from each race flying about protecting borders.
Where's the fun in that?!
( Am I perhaps missing something? Is there a way to go back to the previous way of building ships?)
Thanks,
Achronous
