Pirate Ship Styles, no hulls or parts in Designer

I use a custom race with the Pirate Ship Style mostly because I like the big skulls I can put on things. I recently tried to play again after a time away and started a new game, but when I go into the designer, there's no parts or hulls or anything with which I can build a ship. The game seems to do the auto designs for ships (sniper, explorer, scout) that it normally would fine, but I am completely unable to build one myself.

I've deleted the game and reinstalled, I've deleted the GalCiv3 folder from my documents, neither worked. Did something change when the two DLC were released (neither of which I own) or is it possible the Star Trek hulls I downloaded from the Workshop messed with a file that I didn't manage to delete with the reinstall?

I edited my custom race to use the other races ships, and the designer appears fine with them, and if all else fails I'll just use those. However, I will miss my skulls.

In the ship designer there is an option to turn on '"show all parts". They reset it to off when 1.2 was released. This might be your problem. Happened to me and almost drove me crazy.

Okay, having found the "show all parts" option, I can see the base pirate ships in the hulls. However, I cannot see the little "blank sockets" that they have for the other races so you can start with a blank sheet and not have to build from a pre-existing design. Also, in the parts section I only see "terran" designs for parts as well as the lone pirate skull, regardless of what type of base ship I choose. I'm not sure if that's by design as I only have "Pirate" chosen for my race's fleet.

I was about to call you my saviour when I saw it turned off, until I noticed there had been no change at all. I think this may have something to do with the reward pack. Does this ring a bell to anyone?
