Steam Key for Original SoaE 2006

I bought the game when it first came out...loved it well and burnt out on it.

Over the years I have become a Steam user, and now want to reinstall my original SoaE and DLC from within the Steam ecosystem.  I also bought some DLC within Steam already (I knew I'd come back to this game over and over).  So I want all these bits and pieces managed under one Steam umbrella.

Where do I find the keys for Steam (I'm assuming they are different from the Stardock ones), and is there any sticky somewhere to tell me how to go about doing this re-install?

I'd also like to do this with GalCiv II.

Any help would be great!

There is and will never be a Steam Key for the Original SoaE. On the other hand there is Trinity (which has both of the expansions added on) and Rebellion (a lovely stand alone that has all the expansions incorporated and more) now on Steam. In fact Rebellion is Steam only.

As for GalCiv II I think you have buy the Ultimate version to get that there.

So basically I have to buy the game a 2nd time?  And the version I CAN buy already has the 2 DLC's that I bought off Steam previously?

I've bought a ton of stuff from Stardock over the years.  I feel like I'm being "gouged" when I don't even get a discounted option to have the game available to me via Steam.  I have the original game + entrenchment on my account here at Stardock...and 2 DLC's on Steam that were waiting for a happy joining of the whole.

I've had a soft-spot in my heart for Stardock for since early Windowblinds days.  And I even forgave and forgot about the Elemental issue.  They did me right when they gave me FE (and on Steam to boot).

But this SoaSE conundrum is just wrong, and plain sad.

As far as i know, it is Valve's final choice on do the keys get accepted over Steam for SoaSE.

It is quite possible Valve intentionally declined activation of old SoaSE keys in hopes of getting players to buy a brand new SoaSE.

For example, i have the SoaSE + DLC from many years ago (not steam) - but when rebellion was on Steam sale i bought it, just to have SoaSE on steam.

You could contact Stardock support for this. They can answer your questions a lot more than we could.

This isn't exactly something to go on the forums about.

That and this may be a decision by Ironclad as it is their game. Stardock is just the publisher of the game not the developer.

If you have bought anything Sins off Steam previously, then you already have everything on Steam that you could get by transferring prior purchases over; the only DLCs are those for Rebellion, which includes all content from the prior versions. Rebellion requires Steam, and you should not be able to buy the DLC without it.

If you mean you bought Entrenchment/Diplomacy through Steam, the only way to have done that is by buying Trinity (base+those two in one package). Steam has never sold those on their own. Likewise the original game itself is not available through Steam, so there is no key to be given for that.

If you only have the original game+Entrenchment+Diplomacy and are confusing Steam with GameStop/Impulse in your comments, those can be re-downloaded as standalone installers directly without any client from the Stardock Store downloads page. You can then back up those installers for later use without downloading if desired.

I think you are a bit confused. Only Trinity, Rebellion and its DLCs are on steam IIRC. If you don't have Rebellion I don't know how you could have bought any DLCs from steam.

Thanks for all the answers gents.  Yeah I bought Trinity on Steam a while ago but didn't realize it was kind of a "combo" and not DLC for the original (isn't how Trinity first came out?).

Sometimes trying to sort out all the "which version has what" DLC's is a mess on Steam.

I learned that the hard way when trying to put together all various Europa Universalis & Hearts of Iron offerings off of Steam.

Finally, I just decided to wait till they offer things like "GOTY" editions and those kinds of packages.

So...downloading Trinity and still kind of wondering what I'm missing from Rebellion.

Cheers

Trinity was released at the same time as Diplomacy since it is just a bundled version of everything up to that point. We only began selling games on Steam a couple of years ago though.

Yes when I  bought it, I thought it was ONLY the Diplomacy DLC.  Turns out to have been a nice mistake.

Thanks again.

Titans, corvettes, Rebel and Loyal factioning of each race, each with its own titan, corvette and added tech. New DLCs, cheaper and smaller though, that offer new planets (Forbidden Worlds) and crazy random events (Stellar Phenomenon). Improved graphics with shadowing and improved performance. If a modder or enjoy good mods, more modding options.

Main thing is mods. Most mods for Sins have moved to Rebellion, with many of them also cutting off Trinity support, ex. SoGE, SotP, SotF, E4X. Additionally, there are other mods that have been recently released, or are in development, that were never on Trinity to begin with, such as STA3, SW: Interregnum, and SW: Ascendancy.
