Finally hooked

I have been playing LH during the holidays. I did not expect to get sucked in as I did.

It really has become a fun, addictive game. Mostly the remaining annoyances are of a technical nature - meaning that you happily live with them since you love the rest (incidentally I'm talking about loading times, threads that interrupt you in the middle of everything, and other little quirks, but it's ultimately not important).

So I've been using Pariden a lot, making Procipinee a Warrior who can be uber-buffed thanks to the crown. I love that you must really make some hard choices through the game. How many heroes, which paths to follow... Even within an archetype, there are multiple paths that cannot be mastered at the same time (I really must try leveling a single Hero sometimes and see how high can he get). And questing for gear! Will I get that really special piece of equipment that fits perfectly in my build, this time?

What I'd really like at this point is a Spells DLC (yeah, I've said it before). Loot is good, quests are great, but I could really use more spells. When you specialize in an "element" it doesn't feel like you really have that many spells to choose from. Now, I think 1 additional spell per rank/per element would help a lot. If my calculations are correct, that would mean a 30 Spells DLC, which I think would sound reasonable. I'd happily buy that, I hope something like this is in the works  :)

I too got sucked into this game. I am a die hard Gal Civ II fan and over on the Gal civ III forums there is many references to this game. I never knew about it and figured if Brad can make a great 4x space, obviously this had to be good. I was not disappointed.

I am going to head home and install the patchwork mod and restart an entirely NEW game. I think I will stick to my tired and true formula of one handed pig stickers and a warrior class sovereign.

Oh and I always try to focus just one and park all the rest into cities for unrest control.

Cheers!

Welcome to the club, Mastroego!

I second the request for a Spells DLC.

I too would like to see a spells DLC. Perhaps with a new area of magic focus included such as Enchantment, spells that dramatically affect the tactical battle, counter spells to dispel effects of cast spell, protection spells and more undead spells.

Example:

  • Smoke - A thick dark cloud covers the battlefield and limits ranged attacks to 4 tiles for both sides.
  • Charm - Enemy unit is under your control until the caster takes damage or takes another action (other than pass)
  • Enthrall - Enemy unit does not move or attack unless attacked until the caster takes another action (other than pass) or takes damage
  • Mass Courage - Army is immune to Fear, Dispels Fear
  • Exorcist - Chance to dispel undead creature(s)
  • Fire Resistance - Unit receives a 50% bonus for fire resistance.

I would also like to see the AI better use spells and take advantage of the skills of its heroes. I.e. I would like to see Commanders, Defenders and Assassins better used by the AI.
