Slow Game Play and Page Switching

Hi, I have a high end computer (32gb of Ram, 4th gen i7 processor and 3gb video card) but SOE rebellion (it has the forgotten worlds dlc to) is running slow. It hesitates as I go from one window to another (such as the single player window to the map window) and the ships move slow. Anyone heard of this problem before? any help you guys could give me would be great.

Hmm I think this would fall under the "2 gig minimum", the game is designed for the general population, not the high end user.

Nice computer though :)

Sorry I don't understand. Do you mean my computer is too good for the game and that is why I am having problems? :(

No, but the game can't use all of the awesome hardware your computer has at its disposal. For example, the game runs on a 32 bit engine, which means it can only use 2GB or RAM by default.

If it helps I also get that bit of lag when switching between menus for some reason, if it doesn't affect the main game I wouldn't worry about it.

What kind of time frame are we talking about here?  Are you 8 hours into a random huge or is this happening five minutes into the game?

If it's not a gradual result of severe load, you might have something like an anti-virus thrashing your paging or something.

Ok, well is there anyway to use more of my hardware in the game? I was expecting with all my hardware that this game would run more smoothely. Well its affecting the game because even when I only had 3 planets and 2 capital ships their was an annoying lag.

Its happening as soon as I start moving ships around at the beginning of the game (first 10 minutes or so). There is also a lag when I zoom in and out and change pages on the menu screen. My computer is dual boot (I have win 7 and win 8). could that cause it? could also be a graphics problem? I was reading that if steam recognizes the intel onboard graphics instead of the dedicated graphics that can cause a lag too.

A 3GB video card will use up 3GB of addressable memory... which is more or less everything for a 32 bit application. It's possible that your video card doesn't leave much memory for the game. But I'm no expert, maybe it's something else.

It is possible that the game is set for the wrong video card? My computer is new (Asus G750JX) and maybe the game is not recognizing the new hardware, ive been told its high end stuff I have. Im not sure if you know stardrive but that games seems to work flawlessly so I cant understand why it not working so well :(.

Try to reduce the allocatable memory of your card to 1GB and see if that helps (if that's possible). If your card really uses 3GB, it won't leave much memory for the game. After all the game runs in 32 bits and can handle 4GB at most (likely less because of windows overhead).

That is unusual as the game usually runs great in the beginning. Due to the games age (base level engine was created in 2006 by an indie game company Ironclad so it can't really use multi cores) most of the problems come in late game if you build too big of a world.

Maybe a reinstall would help or making sure that other programs aren't interfering.

There was an issue with motherboards having on board video and having a dedicated video card. Open a ticket with stardock and they might be able to sort your issue.

It sounds like the game may be defaulting to the Intel graphics chipset?  If you've got another one (Nvidia most likely), try locking the game to use that one in your video driver.
