Why the hell was Steam chosen for LH distribution?
I'm going to say this from the beginning to make myself very clear. If you are a Steam fanboy, which is the same as a Steam supporter, then kindly shut the hell up and don't comment on how wonderful Steam works, don't give me platitudes like "I've been using Steam for several years and I have never had a problem with it". You're a liar if you say something like that. I hope that is blunt enough for all who read this. If you don't like it, shut the hell up.
In case one didn't get the message by now. I'm pissed off with Steam being chosen to distribute LH. It is a dumb ass idea any way you look at it. I've never had a problem with a game if it was downloaded from Stardock. From Steam, that is a different animal. I just started playing LH a couple of days ago and having alot of fun with it. Yesterday, I had a steam error, saying I've never played Steam on this computer, though I had just the day before. Eventually, the damn thing let me connect and play LH. Today, the damn thing again said I've never played LH on this computer. And now I really can't play it. Maybe I'll be able to again once Steam gives me permission. I have a brand new computer, just been built, and I have no problems with anything but Steam. Last year when Xcom came out I foolishly bought it for PC, which required Steam. I never could play Xcom. I had an older computer then, but never had a problem playing any games unless they were Steam. Guess what I did? I returned Xcom for PC and bought it on PS3. It worked right out of the box.
STEAM will be the death of PC games. Why the hell would I want to spend time with a screwed up Steam client to play a video game when I can simply purchase a PS3 title. I know LH won't be offered on the PS3, so I guess I won't be playing it unless Steam is dropped or the Steam gods allow me to play again.
Rant off, for now.
