There are.

I've played a total of maybe 6-7 hours and I've found one.  I 'explored' a planet to find it.

hope this helps,

Thanks, so there just hard to find, should I be exploring mainly planets or asteroids? I guess there is no way to set how many artifacts are in a game.

Are there maps that have more artifacts then others.

Thanks for the help Sins is now my fav game.

Artifacts are based upon a percentage. Example would be 30% of the planets on the map will have an artifact. You can modify this stat with Galaxy Forge.

You can also (edit: create) maps where you set every artifact manually by setting the chance to find random artifacts to zero and giving certain planets an artifact, but I think in the stock sins maps there are only one or two maps that have this (I know one of the maps has an artifact on every homeworld, jump drive relic or something like that I think).

He quoted the right post, but the quote content was somehow taken from another post. Annoying forum bug that I had before, too. This forum is weird anyways. Quotes are kinda buggy, sometimes I doblepost, sometimes my new post just disappears. And then there are times when I got a complete freezeup by posting here, weird artifacts on screen and all.
