Is Rebellion Worth The $$$?
Or wasting money to buy it?
I personally think it is worth is. Though I used the pre-order discount that came last year during September, so I got it cheaper than a lot of other people. If you don't own Sins, I would definitely recommend it. You might want to wait for a review in case you do already own trinity. Also because the game is not yet finished.
From a very similar post.
If you don't have any version of Sins, or maybe just the original sins with no expansion, Rebellion is a good deal, ignore what I said above. For those with trinity/diplomacy, its really not enough to justify even the discounted price of $30 IMO. Wait until it hits $20 at least.
I agree with that and the ONLY reason i buyed it it's because the 29.99$ offer was extended.
Rebellion is far from a new game, it's an expansion (my view point) because it have all of what i have already buy before + some new add like in each expansion but not much to say, hey ! it's a new game, hell no ![]()
... ... But the titan !
They are big, nice and powerfull. I wish they will not be nerfed cause i love them strong and dangerous.
It's a nice add-on just because of the Titan and i recommand it if you have played sins before and loved it ![]()
Personnaly i will play again only when this issue will be fixed: Ships Disappearing / Invisible Ships
Maybe in Beta 3
40 dollars for a game?
let me calculate the number of hours i have spent on just the beta so far.
Steam tells me 93 hours played.
lets do the math on that.
hmm... thats less than 50 cents per hour of entertainment. Less than 33 cents per hour if you count the fact that i previously owned trinity...
Going to the movies is about 4 bucks per hour of entertainment. Going to a reallife show is about 40 bucks per hour... and none of that includes gas, or food, though i suppose my 33 cents per hour doesnt include the electric bill...
SO FAR. that number will certainly climb much MUCH higher before the beta is over and then once the release happens. You tell me if it is worth it.
Personally. it would be worth it if it was 400 dollars for a game.
Some people here have already paid for 95% of what is included in Rebellion, before it existed.
If it was a new, full game, no problem for me to paid 40-60$ But Rebellion in my view point (and what i saw in the BETA) is an expansion with some new add, not a new game.
So, why paid 40$ (for anyone) when i already have buy 95% of the Rebellion content before ?
At 29.99$, it make more sense for people who already have buy all the others expansion and it's the only reason i have buy it.
I paid 60$ recently for BattleField 3, but i can play HOURS or DAYS whitout having any problem, no desync. In sins, i was unable to play online. Losing HOURS of time because most of the time you or someone you wanted to play with get desync. It's something i seriously consider when i buy and at what price. 2 of my friends i wanted to play with online on this game have stopped and refused to play online anymore because of this issue. If it's fixed now tell me ![]()
I LOVE SINS, it's a GREAT GAME
I love it even more than Battlefield 3, Skyrim or many other new recent game. BUT... i will not paid 2 times for what i already paid lol, i'm not stupid
29.99$ it's ok and more friendly for people who already have buy the series of sins ! Thanks i'm happy actually with that deal.
@ OP.
In my opinion, yes rebellion is worth the cash. It needs a lot of tweaking and balancing, a bit of shuffling here and there, but I think this will be a very good expansion that will add a LOT to how the game is played.
This game was revolutionized by a 10 dollar mini expansion known as entrenchment. This game is now being changed more then it ever has, and will allow for many more paths to victory (I hope).
I am sure its worth the price. You cant look at it from the point, that 95 percent of the stuff is old one. Just think about what needs to be done to implement only titans into the game:
- first of all, "invent" them. their function, their abilities, their overall role in the game
- artists need to come with some sketches, how would they look like
- they need to be 3d modelled, their textures need to be done and UV mapped, 3D models need to be equipped with hardpoints for weapons abilities
- their abilities need to be created (the graphical content)
- now all of that needs to be somehow coded into the existing game
- it has to be tested, if its not bugged, and if its not breaking the games balance
now i am not a game designer, so surely there is more of it, but you get the idea, it may look like a 5 percent of overall content, but there is quite a lot of work around it.
Personally i played the game for about 40 hours since the start of march. That is A LOT - for me. I even stopped to play Call of Duty because of it, which was basically the only game i used to play regularly for the last 2-3 years. And games like RUSE or SupCom 2. bought them both and while i consider them to be good/decent, neither of them did i play for more than 20 hours - per Steam“s statistic. So Rebellion is THAT good, as far as i am concerned.
@op i think its somewhat worth the money, after buying and trying to play online, i would suggest that you base your decision on, whether or not u play online.
If you want the game to play online - i would wait, there are some crazy issues atm, desync included, when they are fixed and up the standard of online performance we can expect from a modern game then i would say buy it, until then hold off.
IF u want the game for offline play - id say buy it, its pretty fun and has kept me entertained for 13 hours so far. When/IF the multiplayer bugs are fixed probably even more. But for now its a good single player game.
As the other posters have said, it depends on what Sins games you already own and what you want to do with it. If you only own the original Sins and none of the expansions, then it's worth the money. However, if you own the expansions it might not be worth it to you because you can always play mods.
However, if you are interested in playing "the real Sins game"--online multiplayer against human opponents (as opposed to feckless AI) then purchasing Rebellion is worth it even if you already own the Diplomacy expansion. The reason being that the purpose of your purchase is to be able to play against the (hopefully) thousands of people who will come online once Rebellion has been officially released. That's why I purchased it.
But, if you're afraid to play against other people and only play single player against the AI and you already own Diplomacy, then it might not be worth it because you can just play mods instead.
I am also over 90 hours played (in Rebellion - it has to be thousands in Sins since I found it in a bargain bin) and I can only play on Fri - Sat - Sun. Easily worth it in my opinion.
The craftsmanship displayed by the people who design and implement this product is overwhelming. The mods for this are going to be off the hook as the modders are just as passionate as the developers.
This game has that intangible something that places it in the Pantheon of Games. Long after you've taken your last arrow to the knee you will be sitting with your grandchildren telling them how you were there at the beginning. How they gave us the Advent and then took them away! How Titans disappeared and what it was like to live in a world not knowing what was chasing the Vasari.
I implore you don't turn your back on Sins. Sins will always be there for you if you but open up your heart:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Backs out of the room slowly...
No one is saying to do that. For most people who like Sins but don't think its the best game in the world, if they already have the expansions its a much better deal for them to wait for a price drop. Besides by then all the patches and more mods will be out, allowing them to have the best possible experience right away.
