Rebellion Development Time

Rebellion Development Time

OK, to start this off, I am all for developers taking their time creating things. I vastly enjoy quality over quantity as I'm sure most people do. I pre-ordered Rebellion a long time ago, and it's almost been a year since they announced it. My question is, why is it taking this long? From the Q&A, I've seen exciting things that are being added, but they really aren't these huge things that should take forever to make. We haven't even seen in-game footage yet. Does Stardock just take a long time developing a game but in the end creates a quality title? Are they keeping everything under wraps until they suddenly release it? Did they run into a snag shortly after announcing the title? Is this expansion pack meant to be a replacement for a Sins sequel? I'm just wondering why we've only gotten a few pictures and Q&A's over the past year.

PS Absolutely love Sins vanilla, and I'll wait as long as I need to for Rebellion.

Planed release date Rebelion is late 2012. I supose 4th quater. They wrote note on his website.

I don't see that anywhere.  Originally it was Q4 2011 on the store page, later confirmed to be just a placeholder.  Then we were told Spring 2012.  All that has been said since is on the facebook page is that more information will be made public real soon.

A lot of time has gone into art for Rebellion, which only hit full stride a few months ago and has continued to accelerate. While that's finished up, we now spending more time on balance and making sure that things actually work/play as intended. Add that to improving existing systems and trying to keep memory use in check, and it adds up to a lot of time. We'd rather take that time to make Rebellion really polished than rush it out only to have everyone hate it.

Ive actually been wondering what is taking so long too.  Now I know, thanks Yarlen.  Im dying to get the beta too, but understand why at least now.  appreciate the info.

There's been a lot of shift in culture here over the past couple years to only talking about things once they are pretty far along.

So... is that like, and finally here's a screenshot of all the titans in game... BAM here's the beta. And here's a video from in game... BAM and there's the full game!

Thanks for the info, we really do appreciate it! At least now we know when we start seeing/hearing more stuff, we're close, oh so very close.

You'll start hearing more soon...just need to write it up...after I finish sound effects...and box goodies...and other things. :P

Lol, that's almost mean. Taunting us like that...

What exactly do you mean by box goodies? Like retail box (Already?! daaaang)? Or sky box (intriguing... wait, what?)?

Glad to know more is coming soon.

Retail box things.  Presumably a manual, maybe a chart or two...

Just might have to upgrade when it comes out.

I hope the retail box art looks really cool and piques people's interests in the stores.

My idea is to have an explosion outline (like what you might see around the word "bang") with a battle being depicted inside of it.  Then the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion fist logo above or below it.
